General
Welcome to the Seven Wonders Hotel - Petra situated with dramatic views over the town and valley of Wadi Moussa, which houses the ancient city of Petra, now one of the new 7 Wonders of the World. We are a newly built 3* hotel with super-added facilities of a rooftop swimming pool and terrace, and what we believe is the best fitted Turkish Baths suite in Jordan. It is a short walk from the
town center and souk. Although the area generally is hilly, some of the roads being quite steep, the walk from the hotel to the upper part of the town is almost flat and can be undertaken by most reasonably fit people. We are easy to locate, a short drive in on the main access roads from Shawbak and Ma'an, on the right hand side, near to the Police Station. The principle part of the town, and the Petra ancient ruin, is on the same road below us continuing through the valley. Our aim at the hotel is to provide you with a happy experience of Arabia within a comfortable family orientated setting. To this end, we regret we cannot accommodate pets, nor do we serve alcohol inside the hotel, although it is available elsewhere in the town. The building which was completed in 2012 is of a tower design with lift and stairs The lift means it is suitable for elderly and slightly less able bodied guests We regret bathroom facilities are not adapted for wheelchairs, nor for walking appliances, due to lack of floor space. Rooms
The hotel has a city view 30 rooms containing 3 suits; 27 of them have balconies with seating provided. There is wireless high-speed internet access in each room. Also provided is satellite TV with LCD screen, A/C & heating system, refrigerator, hairdryer, safety box, iron and ironing board (upon request) and also toilets with shower and the usual amenities. For friends travelling together in groups, we have provided rooms with 3 and 4 single beds so you don't have to split up on arrival if you prefer to keep together. For those who want quiet and privacy we have pleasant sized and situated single rooms. Reception
Our helpful reception staff speak fluent English and Arabic, with a little of other languages. At the reception desk you can obtain money exchange at current daily rates, and local guide maps and our staff will summon taxis if you wish. We accept cash, and we accept Visa and Master cards but at present we do not have facilities for other card payments. Dining
Wherever you decide to eat in the hotel, you can be assured you will receive freshly prepared local food of excellent quality at fair and competitive prices. Food is served during the day in our attractive Al Babour restaurant. to 10:30 a.m. when you can enjoy a selection of hot and cold breakfast buffet items to suit your mood and appetite. Fruit juices, tea and coffee are unlimited, and we offer fruit, cereals and a range of dairy products as well if you do not want a full breakfast. A room service breakfast can be ordered of course, if you wish to eat at a different time in private. The restaurant opens for lunch at 12:00 p.m. to 04:00 p.m. when we offer a 2 or 3 course buffet with an imaginative and colorful choice of Arabic and international dishes, a range of salads and cold starters, and very tempting oriental desserts to finish. For those who prefer to have a personal choice cooked individually, we have a 2 or 3 course set menu or a delightful A la carte menu, both presented daily by our chef to give you the very best produce with the most inspired preparation. The evening a la carte menu is outstanding, as is the set menu. To tempt your appetite there is a fresh buffet offering more delicious dishes to enhance your eating experience. For those on the move, or who wish to choose as the mood takes them, a colorful and nutritious international buffet is served daily in the restaurant from 06:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Prices for 2 courses and 3 courses are given by the entrance or at the menu. The soft drinks bar runs alongside the Al Babour restaurant service, and will provide for you while you are at table, or we can serve you drinks in the lobby outside if you wish. The Roof of Wonders offers healthy snacks to order, as well as fruit juices, soft drinks, and mineral water and gives you the chance to enjoy the Hubble-Bubble - opened daily at 04:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. If you prefer to eat in private, or in your own time, our 18 hour room service will provide you with exactly what you need when you want it. Just order from in-house room service menu for something homely and it will be freshly made and delivered in 25 minutes. A variety of teas and coffees are always available in the lobby area, at any time of the day till 11:30 p.m. Ask the staff what kinds are available or at the drinks menu; as supplies may vary. Pool Terrace
The hotel boasts a rooftop swimming pool and covered terrace outdoor seating. The pool is outdoor and unheated, (9m x 4m with 1.5m depth) with wooden decking around for sunbathing and reading or similar pursuits. Please note that we have a lifeguard and spotter, but that safety standards are different here from in Europe and America. The use of the pool is free to our guests. Entertainment
For a quieter time, visit our celebrated Afra Turkish Baths in the basement area of the hotel. These are, we believe, the largest and best fitted Turkish Baths in Jordan. Here you can relax during busy periods and have tea or coffee by our water feature or work off a few calories in the fitness room. Next to the steam room are an authentic sauna and whirlpool bath. After your Bath, you can use the barber, or you can have a sports or therapeutic massage from a qualified masseur. As the Turkish Baths are offered to men and women together, we ask that swim wear be worn at all times in the Baths area. You should be able to enjoy a dip and a swim in our pool without feeling crowded, as the pool is 9mx4m with a depth of 1.5m. There is ample space for relaxing on one of our sun loungers or sitting on our terrace taking in the mountain air. We do not advise swimming alone out of hours, and we consider the pool to be closed during the night at 08:00 p.m. The depth of water is not adequate for diving. Parents of small children should not allow their children in or near the water without buoyancy aids unless they can swim unaided. We do have a lifeguard and spotter, but he cannot take over parental supervision
Others
Our gift shop contains other useful guides to the area, in English as well as a comprehensive range of locally made and produced souvenirs, all authentic Bedouin, from this area of Jordan. By the souvenir shop is a small but handy book loan service. At present our books are all English and Arabic language, but if our guests want to swap, we don't mind. We just ask that anything you keep you replace with another book of similar quality and value. A full laundry service is available within the hotel at very reasonable extra charge, including dry cleaning and ironing. If you have something that just needs freshening up, we can provide you with an iron and ironing board to your room on request. Also we have baby cots for you upon request.
