アメリカ・サンフランシスコからの旅人、データサイエンティストとエンジニアのお二人。（2026.05.29）
東京でキャンピングカーをレンタルし、能登半島を巡る旅へ。約4週間にわたって日本を旅しているそうで、奥能登を訪れた後は、東京でキャンピングカーを返却し、そのまま京都へ向かう予定とのこと。
20:30頃に到着したお二人は、かなりお疲れの様子…😅
その理由は…
昨晩、Carstay 車中泊ステーション「田舎バックパッカーハウス」に停めていた、ぼくの書斎、“動く拠点”アルタモーダで仕事をしていると、1台の大きなキャンピングカーが見えた。
しかし、なぜか施設には入ってこない。
よく見ると、一人が車の外に出て誘導している。
「ん？ なぜ入ってこないんだ？」
そう思って外を見ると、近くの神社へ続く散歩コース沿いの狭い道路で、大型キャンピングカー「クレソン・ジャーニー」が見事にはまっているではないか…😅
道路を渡り、ぼくも現場へ。
その道は、ほぼキャンピングカーと同じくらいの幅しかなく、すぐ脇は川。
少しでもハンドル操作を誤れば落ちかねないほどの狭さだ。
さらに草木が視界を遮り、前方も見えにくい。
ツツジの枝を手で押さえながら誘導し、慎重に進み、なんとか脱出成功。
普段この道を通るのは軽自動車がほとんど。ほかに見かけるとすれば、能登半島地震後の復旧工事で入る小型トラックや標準ボディのハイエースくらい。普段なら気持ちのいい散歩コース。でも、車で通るとなると、できれば遠慮したい道だ。
そんな道に、クレソン・ジャーニーサイズのキャンピングカーが入ってしまったのだから、冷や汗ものだったと思う…😅
彼らから話を聞くと、田舎バックパッカーハウスへ続く大通りの入口をうっかり通り過ぎてしまい、Googleマップが案内する“近道ルート”を進んだ結果、この狭い道にたどり着いてしまったそうだ。
その後、お二人は到着早々に夕食を済ませ、そのまま就寝。
きっと、この狭い道との格闘で一気に疲れ果ててしまったんだろうなぁww
それにしても、あの道をあのサイズのキャンピングカーで通って、しかも無傷で到着できたとは… かなりの運転スキルだったと思う😅
なにはともあれ、無事・無傷で田舎バックパッカーハウスに到着できて本当によかった。

They rented RV in Tokyo and set off on a journey around the Noto Peninsula. They travel around Japan for nearly four weeks. After Noto, they plan to return the RV in Tokyo before continuing their journey on to Kyoto.
When they arrived around 20:30, they looked completely exhausted... 😅
The night before, when I was working inside my mobile base, the Altamoda, parked at the Carstay RV Station "INAKA Backpacker House," I noticed a large RV nearby.
Strangely, it wasn't entering the property.
One of them was outside the vehicle, guiding the driver.
"Why aren't they coming in?" I wondered.
When I walked over, I found their large RV, a Cresson Journey, stuck on the narrow road near the local shrine walking path... 😅
I crossed the road and joined them.
The road is incredibly narrow—almost the exact width of the RV itself—and there's a river right beside it. One wrong move could have ended very badly.
To make matters worse, trees and bushes blocked much of the driver's visibility.
Holding back the azalea branches by hand and carefully guiding them, we slowly maneuvered the vehicle out of the tight spot.
Normally, only small kei cars use this road. Occasionally, you'll see a small construction truck or a standard-size HIACE working on post-earthquake reconstruction projects.
It's really more of a walking path than a road for vehicles. Honestly, unless absolutely necessary, I wouldn't want to drive on it.
Seeing a large RV on that road was definitely a surprise.
As it turned out, they had missed the main road to INAKA Backpacker House and simply followed Google Maps' shortcut route, which led them straight onto this very narrow road.
After finally arriving, the two travelers had dinner and went straight to bed.
I imagine that battle with the narrow road drained all their energy before the trip even began. 😆
Thinking about it now, getting through that road without a scratch was quite an achievement. Those were some impressive driving skills. 😅
Thankfully, they made it to INAKA Backpacker House safely and without a scratch.
Thank you for making the long journey all the way from the United States to Noto. 🙏
