The 41st Asakusa Samba Carnival Parade Contest is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026.

First held in 1981, the carnival has grown into one of Asakusa's major summer events. Colorful costumes, powerful percussion and elaborate floats will fill the streets with energy.

8月も半ば。Hotel丸忠の客室では、季節に合わせて薄手の夏掛け布団を使用しています。

この夏掛け布団を手がけているのは、茨城県筑西市の株式会社根本様。1962年の創業から60年以上にわたり、寝具づくりを続けているメーカーです。

長年培われてきた技術を大切にしながら、工場には多針キルト機などの設備を備えています。また、使用済みの布団などを綿状に戻し、新しい布団の原料として活用する開繊機も導入。ものを作るだけでなく、限りある資源を次へつなぐ取り組みも進めています。

毎日お客様が使う寝具だからこそ、当館では、こうした長い歴史を持ち、寝具づくりを続けてきたメーカーの製品を採用しています。

【Over 60 Years of Bedding Craftsmanship in Our Guest Rooms】

It is already mid-August. At Hotel Maruchu, our guest rooms are prepared with lightweight summer quilts suited to the season.

Our lightweight summer quilts are made by Nemoto Co., Ltd. in Chikusei, Ibaraki. Founded in 1962, Nemoto has been producing bedding for more than 60 years.

While preserving skills developed over many decades, the company operates factory equipment including a multi-needle quilting machine. It has also introduced an opening machine that turns materials from used bedding back into fiber for use in new bedding, helping valuable resources find a new purpose.

Because bedding is something every guest uses, Hotel Maruchu chooses products made by a manufacturer with a long history of bedding craftsmanship.

南千住という名前は、「千住宿南組」から。

Hotel丸忠CENTROとHotel丸忠CLASSICOがある南千住。この地名は、千住大橋と深い関わりがあります。

荒川区によると、千住大橋は1594年、徳川家康が江戸に入って初めて架けた橋です。足立区側に設けられた千住宿は、やがて橋を越えて現在の荒川区側まで広がりました。明治時代に「千住宿南組」と呼ばれるようになったことが、「南千住」という地名の由来とされています。

江戸の北の玄関口として、多くの旅人が行き交った千住。時代が変わった今も、南千住は東京を旅する方々を迎える町です。

【Stories from Minami-Senju #01】

The name “Minami-Senju” is derived from “Senju-shuku Minami-gumi,” the name given to the southern part of the post town during the Meiji era.

Minami-Senju, home to Hotel Maruchu CENTRO and Hotel Maruchu CLASSICO, has a long history connected to Senju Ohashi Bridge.

According to Arakawa City, Senju Ohashi was the first bridge built by Tokugawa Ieyasu after he entered Edo, in 1594. Senju-shuku, a post town originally established on the Adachi side, later expanded south across the bridge into what is now Arakawa City. During the Meiji era, the southern section became known as “Senju-shuku Minami-gumi,” which is considered the origin of the name “Minami-Senju.”

Once known as Edo’s northern gateway, Senju welcomed travelers heading in and out of the city. Today, Minami-Senju continues to welcome visitors exploring Tokyo.

Through our new series, “Stories from Minami-Senju,” we will introduce the history and changing scenery of our neighborhood. If there is a local place or story you would like us to feature, please let us know in the comments.

The Sumida River Fireworks Festival, a Tokyo tradition with roots dating back to the Edo period, is scheduled for Saturday, July 25.

Around 20,000 fireworks will light up the sky. Fireworks begin at 7:00 p.m. at Venue 1 and 7:30 p.m. at Venue 2.
