We are well into the build and everything is running on time. We thought you would all love to see the incredible Japanese efficiency of the first main day of the build.
The posts and beams are all precut with their joints ready for application on site. 2 stories plus the loft all the way to the top roof beam are installed in just one day. Because the joints are so precise and so square and strong almost no bolts are used (maybe 16 for the whole structure).
It all goes together like lego. Every post and beam has a number and an orientation so no plans need to be referred to during the build because there is only one way it fits together.
We also had two ceremonies with salt and sake at the start and end of the day (sake was just a few mils in each cup to make sure nobody is alcohol effected). The ceremonies are all about purification and safety of the construction and the building in the future. https://bit.ly/3PC2ge7. We were enormously grateful to have been made a part of the ceremony.
The building now has a roof, windows, walls and floors. The speed of everything is simply amazing.
