Nestled between Nagano and Niigata prefectures, Madarao is renowned for its tree skiing and deep, deep powder snow. Raicho Lodge, located just a short walk away from the base of the ski hill, is your home in the snow for your next adventure. We love the snow, the mountains and Japan. Our lodge is our way of sharing with you the magical experiences we have had in Japan’s famous powder and beautiful mountains.

Raicho Lodge is named after the Thunder Bird of Nagano, a master of transformation that hides its dappled brown summer shade in winter, becoming stunningly white with full plumage. This transformative bird symbolises our lodge’s constant rejuvenation, as well as the region of Nagano, that embodies all the beauty of winter.
