【八方池を目指して🏔️】
5/30・31は八方尾根ゴンドラの営業日。
心地よい天候に恵まれ、山々の景色を楽しみながら歩ける日となりました🌤️
今年は積雪が少なかったこともあり、雪解けは例年より早めの様子。
八方池の手前にはまだ雪が残っていますが、それ以外の登山道は問題なく歩けます。
季節の移ろいとともに表情を変える山の風景。
6/6の本格営業開始日には、さらに美しい姿が広がっていそうです。

涼しい風を感じながら歩くこの時期のトレッキングは、初夏の白馬ならではの楽しみですね😌✨

【Heading to Happo Pond 🏔️】
May 30–31 are operating days for the Happo-One gondola.
With pleasant weather and beautiful mountain views, it was a perfect day for a hike 🌤️
With less snowfall this year, the snow has been melting earlier than usual.
While some snow remains near Happo Pond, the rest of the trail is clear and easy to walk.
The mountains continue to change with the seasons, offering a different view each day.
By the official opening on June 6, the scenery is expected to be even more beautiful.
Trekking through the cool mountain air is one of the simple pleasures of early summer in Hakuba 😌✨🌿

【山頂の雪解け模様「代掻き馬」】

今、白馬の山頂を見上げると、岩肌が「馬の形」に見える場所があるのをご存知ですか？

これは「雪形（ゆきがた）」といって、雪解けの時期だけ現れる自然のアート。

この馬が現れると、地元の農家さんは「さあ、田植えの準備（代掻き）を始めよう！」と準備を始めました。

実は「白馬（はくば）」という地名の由来になったとも言われる、特別な景色なんです。
今しか見られない、山からの「春のお便り」。

ぜひ探してみてくださいね。

[The "Plowing Horse": Nature’s Art on the Peaks]

Look up at the peaks of Hakuba right now—did you know there’s a place where the mountain rocks form the shape of a horse?

This is called a "Yukigata" (snow figure), a natural masterpiece that only appears during the spring thaw.

When this horse emerges, local farmers traditionally knew it was time to start preparing the rice fields for planting.

In fact, this special sight is said to be the origin of the name "Hakuba" (White Horse).

It is a fleeting "letter from spring" that can only be seen at this time of year.

名前は「オオデマリ（大手毬）」。

その名の通り、真っ白で大きなボールのような形がとっても可愛いお花です。

咲き始めのメロン色から、どんどん真っ白に変わっていく様子は、今の時期だけの特別な彩り。

お散歩の際は、ぜひ足元や庭先に咲く「白い手毬」を見つけてみてください。

[Snowball Blossoms: The Charming White "Oodemari"]

While strolling through the streets of Hakuba, you might come across pure white flowers that look just like hydrangeas.
These are called "Oodemari" (Japanese Snowball).

Have you ever seen them before?
True to their name, they are adorable flowers shaped like large, fluffy white balls.

Their transformation—from a soft melon-green when they first bloom to a brilliant pure white—is a special seasonal treat.
The contrast of the snowy white against the fresh spring greenery is simply picture-perfect.
