Even though we’re in the height of summer holidays in Hokkaido, today Friday 7th August is Risshū (the beginning of Autumn in the old Japanese solar calendar). 🌞🍁

✅Sunday 9th August is Park Golf Day – invented in Hokkaido 💯

Festival season is in full swing in the Niseko area and the biggest of them all, Jaga Matsuri (Potato Festival), is being held in Kutchan next weekend (1-2 August, 2026).

This lively local festival, now in its 64th year, has a schedule so packed with things to see 👀, do 🎯, hear 🥁 and taste 🍧 you'll be exhausted by the time it culminates in a massive fireworks display on Sunday evening. 🎇🎆
