起伏にに富んだ山々が並び立つ伊豆半島の中で、唯一の大河と言える狩野川。
その流れは、独特な地形・豊かな土壌、そして災いをもたらしてきました。
この地の人々は、どんな気持ちでこの川を見つめてきたのでしょうか。
長年治水工事を行ってきた人々の努力に思いを馳せながら、狩野川を散歩する午後でした。
The Kano River—which runs near the old inn—is arguably the lone “large-scale” river in the Izu Peninsula, which is lined with undulating mountains.
The river’s massive flows have brought about the unique terrain, the fertile soil and, unfortunately, natural disasters to the region.
“With what sorts of feelings have the people of this land been gazing at this water?”
This afternoon, I strolled along the Kano River, thinking about the efforts of the people who have been engaged in flood control here.
