六枚町納涼祭！

先日、ポンギーが所属する六枚町町会の納涼祭に、ゲストさんたちも一緒に参加してきました。
今回は、日本、イタリア、イギリスからのゲストさんです♪

六枚町は、十数世帯ほどの、金沢でいちばん小さな町会。
皆さん顔見知りで、助け合いの心がある、とてもあたたかい町です。

少し涼しくなった夜に、焼きそば、ソーセージ、焼き鳥などを楽しみながら、最後の夏の夜を満喫。
ゲストさんにとっても、日本の日常に触れる思い出になっていたら嬉しいです。

六枚町のみなさま、今年もありがとうございました〜！

Rokumaimachi Summer Festival!

The other day, we joined the summer festival of Rokumaimachi, our local neighborhood association, together with our guests.

This time, our guests were from Japan, Italy, and the UK♪

Rokumaimachi is the smallest neighborhood with only about a dozen households. Everyone knows each other and helps each other, making it a very warm and friendly community.

On a slightly cooler evening, we enjoyed yakisoba, sausages, yakitori, and more, making the most of one of the last summer nights.

We hope it became a special memory for our guests, too—a chance to experience a little part of everyday life in Japan.

Thank you so much to everyone in Rokumaimachi for another wonderful evening!

東京からのMさんとHさん！

以前から何度もポンギーに来てくださっているMさんが、今年ご結婚され、今回は初めて奥さまのHさんと一緒に来てくださいました♪

Mさんが最初に来てくれたのは、まだ大学生の頃。

就職試験の勉強中も、合格された後も、毎年のように会いに来てくださっています。
そんなMさんの人生の節目に、こうして立ち会わせてもらえて本当に嬉しいです。

笑顔がとっても素敵なHさんにもお会いできて、嬉しさ2倍♪

これから、おふたりで幸せな家庭を築いていかれますように！

M-san and H-san from Tokyo!

M-san has stayed at Pongyi many times over the years. This time, he came with his wife, H-san, for the first time.

M-san first visited us when he was still a university student.

He came to stay with us while studying for his job exam, and has continued to visit us almost every year since passing it.

We’re so happy to have shared in this special moment in his life.

It was also lovely to finally meet H-san, whose smile is so wonderful♪

We wish you both a long and happy life together!

台湾からのKさん！

日本語がとても流暢で、ポンギーでの会話はすべて日本語でOKなKさん。

20年ほど前に東京で日本語を学ばれたそうですが、今は長く台湾にお住まいで、お仕事でも日本語はまったく使わないとのこと。

「日本語をキープするために、今でも日本のニュースやドラマをたくさん見ています」

と、語学力をキープする秘訣を教えてくださいました。

なるほど〜！
継続が、しっかり力になっているんですね！！

そして、長い時間が経っても、日本語や日本の文化を大切に思い続けてくださっていることが、とても嬉しいです。

またいつか、ポンギーでお会いできますように♪

K-san from Taiwan!

K-san speaks Japanese very fluently, so we could have all our conversations at Pongyi in Japanese!

She studied Japanese in Tokyo about 20 years ago. However, she has been living in Taiwan for a long time now, and she doesn’t use Japanese at work at all.

“I still watch a lot of Japanese news and dramas to keep up my Japanese.”

She shared with us her secret for keeping her language skills.

Ah, I see!
Continuing to study really does make a difference!!

We’re so happy that, even after all these years, she still loves Japan and cares so much about the Japanese language and culture.

We hope to see you again at Pongyi someday♪

岐阜・愛知から、OさんとBさん！

沖縄のゲストハウスで、同じ時期にスタッフをされていたお二人。旅が好きで、これまでにもいろいろな場所を旅してきたそうです。

夜はポンギーで、他のゲストさんたちと一緒にお話しタイム♪いろいろな旅の話を聞いたり、それぞれの旅先の話をしたり。旅好きな人同士、自然と話も弾みます♪

そして翌朝は、早くからシャキッと出発！

前日の夜はみんなで楽しくお話ししていたのに、朝はもう次の目的地へ向かわれたお二人。さすが旅慣れていますね〜！

金沢、そして能登。今回の北陸の旅も、楽しい思い出になっていたら嬉しいです。

O-san and B-san from Gifu and Aichi!

O-san and B-san used to work at the same guesthouse in Okinawa at the same time.

They both love traveling and have visited many different places.

In the evening, they joined our chat time at Pongyi with the other guests.

We talked about our travels and shared stories about the places we had visited. When people who love traveling get together, the conversation naturally flows♪

And the next morning, they were up early and ready to go!

We had a fun evening together the night before, but the next morning, they were already on their way to their next destination.

That’s what we call experienced travelers!

Kanazawa and Noto— We hope their trip around Hokuriku was filled with lots of wonderful memories.

夏の夜のひととき♪
この日は、埼玉からのご家族、フランス、スイスからのゲストさんたちと一緒でした。

写真向かって右のお二人は、Sさん親子。
ご両親とお兄さん、妹さんの4人で、埼玉からの家族旅行でした。
一年に一度は、家族みんなでお出かけするようにしているそうです。
お子さんたちが大人になっても、こうして家族で仲良く旅ができるって、素敵ですね。

お兄さんのお目当ては、室生犀星記念館。
金沢三文豪の一人、室生犀星を目当てに金沢へ来られるとは…なかなかの文学通！

夜はポンギーでみんなとお話をして、チェックアウト後は内灘まで日本海を見に行かれました。

これからも、ご家族でたくさんの楽しい時間を過ごしてくださいね！

A summer evening♪

This evening, we spent some time together with a family from Saitama and guests from France and Switzerland.

The two people on the right are S-san and her mother.
They came from Saitama for a family trip with their parents, son and daughter.

They told us that they try to take a family trip together once a year.
Even after the children have grown up, it’s so nice to see a family that still enjoys traveling together.

The son of S-san' s family especially wanted to visit the Muro Saisei Memorial Museum.

Muro Saisei is one of Kanazawa’s three famous writers, so coming all the way to Kanazawa because of him… he must really love literature!

In the evening, they chatted with everyone at Pongyi. After checking out, they went to Uchinada to see the Sea of Japan.

We hope you continue to enjoy many happy moments together as a family!

アイルランドからのAさん！

2009年、ポンギーをオープンしてまだ1ヶ月ほどの頃に泊まってくださったAさんが、17年ぶりに会いに来てくれました！
今回は、ギリシャ出身のSさんと一緒に、ハネムーンで日本を旅行中です。

当時は大学生だったAさんは、17年の時を経て、今では立派な社会人。

Aさんもまさきさんも、当時のことを昨日のことのようによく覚えていて、昔話に花が咲きました。

ゲストさんの人生とともに歩んでいる気がして、とても嬉しいです。

Aさん、帰ってきてくれてありがとう！
Sさんと一緒に素敵なハネムーンを楽しんでくださいね♪

A-san from Ireland!

A-san stayed at Pongyi in 2009, just about a month after we opened. And now, 17 years later, he came back to see us!

This time, he is traveling around Japan with S-san from Greece for their honeymoon.

When A-san first stayed with us, he was a university student. After 17 years, he is now a working professional.

A-san and Masaki both remember those days so well, almost as if it were yesterday. We had a wonderful time talking about the old days.

It makes us so happy to feel that we can be a small part of our guests’ lives, even as the years go by.

A-san, thank you so much for coming back to Pongyi!

We hope you and S-san have a wonderful honeymoon in Japan!

スイスからのLさん！

他のゲストさんたちが出かけて、私（にいな）と二人でピース折り紙を折った夜。
Lさんが、かわいい愛犬（白い小型犬）の写真を見せてくれました♪

「毎日この子を散歩させるの？」と聞いてみると、
「毎日一緒に駅まで行って、この子と一緒に電車に乗って、オフィスではずっと足元にいるの。こういうワンコたちが、オフィスには4匹くらいいるわ」

とのこと。

えー！もちろんスイスでも、会社や環境によるとは思いますが、日本ではなかなか見られない光景かも！

愛犬といつも一緒にいられたら、仕事も頑張れそうですね♪

またひとつ、新しいことを教えてもらいました。
Lさん、どうもありがとう〜！

L-san from Switzerland!

One evening, after the other guests had gone out, L-san and I stayed at Pongyi and folded Peace Origami together.

She showed me a photo of her adorable little white dog♪

I asked, “Do you walk your dog every day?”

She told me, “We go to the station together every day, take the train together, and then my dog stays by my feet at the office all day. There are about four dogs like this at my office!”

Wow!
Of course, I’m sure it depends on the company and the work environment, even in Switzerland, but this is something we don’t often see in Japan!

Being able to have your dog with you all the time must make going to work a little more enjoyable♪

I learned something new again!

イタリアからのDさん！

朝8時、荷物を置きにやって来た彼。

「早いね〜！」と言うと、東京から夜行バスで来たとのこと。

よくよく話を聞いてみると、高校を卒業して、初めての一人旅に選んだのが日本。しかも北海道からスタート！
礼文島にも足を延ばし、そこからどんどん南へ旅をしてきたそうです。

「いろいろリサーチしてきたんだ！」と、楽しそうに話す姿がとても印象的でした。

デザインを勉強しているというDさん。
日本での旅が、たくさんの素敵な思い出と経験になりますように♪

D - san from Italy!

He came to our guesthouse at 8:00 AM to leave his luggage.

“Wow, you’re early!”
He told us he had taken an overnight bus from Tokyo.

As we talked, we found out that he had just graduated from high school, and Japan is his first solo trip. And he started from Hokkaido!

He even visited Rebun Island, and has been traveling south ever since.

“I did a lot of research!” he said with a big smile.
It was lovely to see how excited he was about his trip.

He is studying design.

We hope his journey in Japan will bring him lots of wonderful memories and experiences. ♪

秋の夜長。
日中はまだ暑い日が多いですが、少しずつひんやりと感じる夜も増えてきました。

ポンギーの前では、夜になると虫たちの大合唱♪
夏と秋の変わり目だからでしょうか、いろいろな虫の声が混ざっているようで、これもまた風流です。

セミの声は少しずつ聞こえなくなり、これからはスズムシやコオロギの声が増えてくるのかな〜

虫の声で季節の移り変わりを感じられるのも、日本の素敵なところだなぁと、しみじみ思います！

Long autumn evenings.

The days are still quite warm, but we’re starting to have more evenings that feel a little cooler.

At night, we can hear a chorus of insects singing right in front of Pongyi♪

Maybe it’s because summer is slowly turning into autumn, but it sounds like many different insects are singing together. It’s such a lovely sound.

The cicadas are slowly disappearing, and we wonder if we’ll soon be hearing more crickets and bell crickets.

We’re reminded once again how wonderful it is to be able to feel the changing seasons through the sounds of insects. It’s one of the beautiful things about Japan.

フランスからのAさん！

今年1月からアジアを旅しているAさん。これまでにベトナム、マレーシア、ラオス、タイ、フィリピン、シンガポールなど、たくさんの国を巡ってきたそうです。

マンガが大好きで、いつか日本に来てみたかったとのこと。そして「今年の誕生日は日本で過ごしたい！」と、日本を旅の最後の国に選んでくれました。

彼の日本の旅は、まだもう少し続きます。

長い旅、どうぞ体に気をつけて。最後まで楽しい思い出をたくさん作ってくださいね！

A-san from France!

He has been traveling around Asia since January.
So far, he has visited Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and many more places.

He loves manga and has always wanted to visit Japan.
He also wanted to spend his birthday in Japan this year, so he chose Japan as the last country of his long journey.

His trip around Japan will continue for a little while longer.
