According to weather report, Karuizawa area (Nagano and Tokyo area as well) is in rainy season. Please prepare rain gears if you are planning to travel around here.

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer holidays. We have a couple of announcements for you today so please read them carefully.
Firstly, since we are first and foremost a Pension Hotel and we are now entering our busy season, lunch service will no longer start at 11:30am. Lunch will now begin at 12:00pm everyday and close as usual at 2:00pm. Last Order will still be at 1:30pm. Since we were showcased on local television we have gotten very busy lately at lunch and are no longer able to take reservations. Your best bet to get in for lunch is to arrive shortly before we open. Remember, do to the fact that we are a Pension Hotel and not a restaurant, we do have a limited supply of menu items as well as rice and salad. Lately we have had to close as early as 1pm. If you come too late, we may not be able to accept you at all. Also please remember that traffic gets really bad here in Karuizawa in the summer. Please plan accordingly if you want to make it on time.

Secondly, with the rise of popularity, our dining room can become quite difficult to get around in. Please be advised that if you are visiting us with children, that you must make sure they are not running around the dining room. Some of the dishes we serve are very hot and could easily burn some one if they were to fall or even bump into some one. Please keep your children with you at all times as when we are busy, accidents are more likely to occur.

It's a dreary grey day here at Hoshinoko with a light snow, but the coffee is fresh, the fire is burning and the food is hot, so come on by for lunch until 2pm.

Upon waking up this morning and looking outside, it became apparent that I would be shovelling snow relatively soon.
At least it's not like last years snowfall.

We may be getting some strong gusts of wind and a lot for rain but it's not enough to keep Hoshinoko from closing for lunch. So if you're brave enough come on down for a nice hot meal.

Well summer has come and gone quite abruptly. Getting ready for the cold days ahead and enjoying the sight of leaves changing colour.
Lunch is still available daily and back at our regular hours of 11:30 until 2pm.
