Our Story

Welcome to Surfing In Japan based at Splash Guest House right on the beach at Hebara, Katsuura in Chiba just 1.5hrs from Tokyo.

The Space A fantastic house right on the beach at one of Japan’s most famous surf breaks in the middle of Katsuura National Park with endless amounts of things to do both on and off the water. 2 private guest room's that sleep 4 people each although we are able to accept larger groups. (Please contact us for further details of larger group bookings) Due to our location we are also perfect for families with children who are looking to escape somewhere safe and fun The Location Hebara Beach is a golden sand clear blue water East Facing Gem within the Katsuura National Park which is well known as one of the best surf spots on the coastline. Within a 15km area there are more than 20+ bays and beaches surrounded by high sandstone cliffs with endless amounts of things to do both on and off the water. The guest house really is in the perfect location. The Home Bungalow style building, free car parking right out front, main guest room, large living / communal room, big kitchen, toilet, washroom, bathroom, front garden with campfire style cooking (firewood provided) and a large covered side terrace for any rainy days. The house is fully setup as a surf house location so has a shower and clean and dry areas for after water activities. Toilet Space Clean with Japanese style heating and washlet system Bathroom Space Large deep bathtub and built in shower wet room with plenty of hot water for long relaxing soaks All shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste is provided (just bring your own tooth brush) Washroom Space Fully equipped with washer and dryer and drying facility for rainy days The Garden Split into 3 areas The main front Garden overlooking the beach with full camping style wood fired cooking setup. Enjoy the smell and taste of real wood fired cooking, learn how to smoke your food and to slow cook with Dutch ovens. There is seating for more than 12 people so there is always room The Side Terrace is fully covered allowing all year use it is great for shade on a hot, sunny day but just as good for relaxing on in the middle of a rainy spell. Play on the swing or relax in the hammock the choice is yours! Rear Surf /SUP area, its where we hide all the goodies from boards to paddles to wetsuits and bikes. It's kind of like the kitchen in a party where folks often gravitate to this is no different and where you will hear folk telling their stories of monster waves and crazy rides. The Food System We pride ourselves on this and it really can make the difference between a good stay and an amazing stay. We encourage our guests to cook with us at home as there is so much to choose from and the experience can start straight away with a visit to the daily local market to buy fresh ingredients grown by the local folks in the area. It is then down to personal preference as to how we cook and eat it. BBQ, Smoked, Buffet, plated, noodles, Japanese or Western - the choices are it's never ending and we are equipped to do it all. The local immediate local Area 7/11 convenience store, restaurants Japanese and western, liquor shop, surf shop, clothes shop The surrounding area (Up to 20km) Kamogawa – large city with all shopping and Kamogawa sea world Onjuku – very famous large white sand beach and sand board mountain Katsuura – Local large fishing town with ocean center, museum temples and the famous Onsen and Spa resort. The train service runs along the coast line stopping at most major towns. Many of our guests will also rent bicycles or take long walks around the surrounding area. We offer a drop off and collection service for our guests and are also happy to arrange car rental if required.
