An Exclusive View into Kyoto’s Timeless Festival

Experience the Gion Festival through an exclusive stay program at ROKU KYOTO, designed to bring guests closer to Kyoto’s cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and refined summer traditions.

From a comfortable indoor viewing setting overlooking the Yamahoko Junko procession, guests can witness one of Kyoto’s most iconic festivals while gaining deeper insight into its history, artistry, and cultural significance.

Limited to 12 guests per day, the program includes hospitality by a maiko from Kamishichiken, a hands-on hime wagasa crafting experience with artisans from Tsujikura, and commentary in both Japanese and English.

Set in Takagamine, where Hon’ami Kōetsu established an artistic community in the early Edo period, ROKU KYOTO offers a quiet setting where Kyoto’s traditions, beauty, and hospitality come together.

A quiet season of green, stone, and stillness.

Just a short journey from ROKU KYOTO, Myoshin-ji Temple enters one of its most graceful moments of the year, as fresh green maple leaves bring a soft brightness to the historic temple grounds.

Within Taizo-in, two special exhibitions will be held during the early days of May, inviting visitors into a calm dialogue between contemporary expression and the surrounding Zen atmosphere.

•⁠ ⁠In the Hojo, Taizo-in’s historic main hall, KYOTOGRAPHIE KG+ presents Passing Through Stone and Snow by Michiko Chiyoda.

•⁠ ⁠In the Shoin, a traditional study and reception room, Katsuhiro Kinosh*ta’s Traces of Water, Marks of Fire explores the quiet presence of material, memory, and form.

Stone, ink, and clay meet the stillness of the garden, creating a reflective experience shaped by nature, art, and the rhythm of the season.

書院では、木下勝弘氏による書と茶碗の作品展「水の軌跡 火の痕跡」をお楽しみいただけます。

石、墨、土という異なる素材に向き合う二人の作品が、静謐な禅の庭園と響き合い、空間全体に深い余韻をもたらします。

ゆったりとした時間の中で、心落ち着くアート体験をお過ごしください。
