客室「浮舟」の飾り棚の襖を新調いたしました。

このお部屋の名にちなみ、
柄には「観世水（かんぜすい）」を採用しております。

ゆるやかに流れる水の文様は、
平安の昔より親しまれてきた意匠のひとつ。

水面を漂う舟を思わせるその姿は、
「浮舟」の名にもどこか通じるものがあります。

お部屋の細部にも、
それぞれの物語や季節感を込めながら、
心地よい空間づくりを大切にしております。

New Fusuma Design for Our Decorative Shelving

We have recently renewed the fusuma sliding panels of the decorative shelving in our guest room Ukifune.

For this room, we selected the traditional Japanese pattern known as Kanseisui (flowing water).

This elegant motif, depicting gentle streams of water, has been cherished in Japanese design for centuries. Its flowing lines evoke the image of a boat drifting quietly upon the water, beautifully reflecting the name Ukifune.

At Yachiyo, we value not only comfort but also the stories and traditions woven into each detail of our rooms.

We hope you will take a moment to appreciate these subtle touches during your stay.

9月を迎えました。

まだ夏の名残を感じる京都ですが、
朝夕には少しずつ秋の気配が漂いはじめています。

季節がゆっくりと移ろう南禅寺。
庭の緑や、やわらかな風にも、
少しずつ秋の表情が感じられる頃となりました。

今月も、皆さまを心よりお迎えいたします。

While Kyoto still holds on to the warmth of summer, the first gentle signs of autumn can be felt in the mornings and evenings.

Here in Nanzenji, the seasons slowly begin to change.
A softer breeze, the greenery of the garden, and the subtle shift in the air remind us that autumn is just around the corner.

今年も大文字が灯りました。

京都の夏の夜、東山如意ヶ嶽に「大」の文字が静かに浮かび上がりました。

五山送り火は、お盆にお迎えしたご先祖様の精霊をお送りする、京都に古くから受け継がれてきた大切な行事です。

夜空に浮かぶ送り火を眺めながら、静かに手を合わせるひととき。

今年も変わらぬ京都の夏の風景を見ることができました。

The Daimonji fire has been lit.

Tonight, the character “Dai” (大) once again glows on the mountainside of Kyoto.

Gozan Okuribi is a cherished tradition marking the end of Obon, when the spirits of ancestors are respectfully sent on their way.

A quiet and beautiful moment that has been part of Kyoto’s summer for generations.

祇園祭 山鉾巡行

祇園祭の見どころのひとつが「辻回し（つじまわし）」です。

鉾は車輪の向きを変えることができないため、交差点では竹を敷き、水をかけて滑りやすくし、大勢の曳き手が力を合わせて少しずつ方向を変えます。

何度も少しずつ回しながら、巨大な鉾が見事に向きを変える瞬間は圧巻。
無事に回りきると、沿道からは大きな歓声と拍手が湧き起こり、祇園祭ならではの一体感に包まれます。

受け継がれてきた伝統と、人々の力がひとつになる瞬間を、ぜひ間近でご覧ください。

Gion Festival – Yamaboko Procession

One of the highlights of the Gion Festival is the Tsujimawashi, the dramatic turning of the towering festival floats at intersections.

Since the floats cannot steer their wheels, workers lay down bamboo, pour water to reduce friction, and dozens of pullers work together to slowly rotate the massive float.

It is an impressive display of teamwork and tradition. When the float successfully completes the turn, the crowd erupts into cheers and applause, creating one of the most exciting moments of the festival.

🏮祇園祭の厄除けちまき🏮

本日、祇園祭の厄除けちまきを授かり、当館の玄関に飾りました。

祇園祭のちまきは食べるものではなく、疫病や災いから家を守る「厄除けのお守り」です。一年間、玄関に飾ることで家内安全や無病息災を願う京都の伝統があります。

🏮Gion Matsuri Protective Chimaki🏮

Today, we received a traditional Gion Matsuri Chimaki and have placed it at the entrance of our ryokan.

Unlike edible rice dumplings, the Gion Matsuri chimaki is a protective talisman believed to ward off illness and misfortune. It is traditionally displayed at the entrance of a home or inn throughout the year as a symbol of good health and protection.

We hope you enjoy this special Kyoto tradition when you visit Nanzenji Yachiyo.

明日はいよいよ、祇園祭の宵山です。

夕暮れになると、美しく灯された山鉾が京都の街を彩り、祇園囃子の音色が響き渡ります。

約1,000年以上の歴史を持つ祇園祭。
宵山は、山鉾巡行の前夜祭として、多くの人々で賑わう特別なひとときです。
京都の歴史と文化、そして人々の祈りが受け継がれてきた、特別な夏の風景。

Tomorrow is Yoiyama – the magical eve of the Gion Festival.

As night falls, the magnificent festival floats are illuminated with hundreds of lanterns, and the sound of traditional Gion-bayashi music fills the streets of Kyoto.
