新型コロナウイルスの影響でイベントが続々と中止になっていますね…
京都市は閑散とまではいきませんが、普段にぎわっている街並みが嘘のように感じられます。

本日は雨も降っており寒くなっておりますので、外に出られる際はどうか温かい格好でお出かけください。

Hello from Kyoto!
Today I recommend good Washoku restaurant in Gion, located near from our place. The restaurant called DOI(竈炊き立てご飯土井) It is on the corner of HANAMIKOJI-Street and SHIJO- Street. The 1st floor is tsukemono shop and the 2nd floor is the restaurant. If you choose some lunch sets, you can take tsukemono, rice and salad all you can eat. The main dished are mainly fish or meat. Especially the rice tastes wonderful! It is worth to try to eat even the person who don't like Japanese food. If you will stay with us, why don't you go there?!

We have introduced Setubun day on the past post before the last two.

At the day, Japanese people play throwing beans to pray for the happiness. And one more thing what we always do is eating "Eho-maki ".

Eho-maki are thick sushi rolls which is believed to bring good fortune if eaten while facing the year’s “Eho” (good luck direction).

When you are eating it, there is one simple rule which you have to follow. While you eat Eho-maki, you must be silent.
If you visit to Kyoto as a traveler, I'm sure it will be difficult to throw away beans in the hotel. however, just eating ehoumaki is more easier than doing it.

You can buy it at grocery stores. Why not try to eat??

Japanese people hold an event on 3rd February, the day of the point of the end of Winter and start of Spring season. And it is called Setubun Day.

At the day, people disguise as a devil, and others throw a beans. The action has the meaning to keep bad things at distance. Children might not understand the meaning, but just excited to play to throw beans.

Warm days next to Winter will not come soon.

However, there are something what you can do only Winter season!

You know Kinkakuji? The temple is well known as the name "Golden pavilion". The name comes from the look covered with gold leaf. Can you image how beautiful snow is contrasted with the gold leaf?? You will must being excited to see the scene.

We don't get much snow here in Kyoto City. If you're lucky, you'll see special Golden pavilion.

Most of all travelers use Kyoto Station to come from KIX, and go to Osaka and Nara.
