✨The Jidai Matsuri (The festival of Ages)✨

The Jidai Matsuri, or Festival of the Ages, is one of the three major annual festivals in Kyoto, Japan, held on October 22nd. It was first celebrated in 1895 to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the founding of Kyoto (formerly Heian-kyō) as the imperial capital of Japan.
The festival features a grand historical parade with participants dressed in authentic costumes representing various periods of Japanese history, from the Meiji Restoration (1868) back to the Heian period (794). The procession includes over 2,000 people, including warriors, court nobles, samurai, and famous historical figures, such as Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
The parade starts at the Kyoto Imperial Palace and proceeds to the Heian Shrine, which was built in honor of Emperor Kanmu, the founder of Kyoto. The event showcases Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage and serves as a living history lesson.

The Gion Festival is held from July 1st to July 31st✨
It is one of Japan’s three major festivals and boasts a history of over 1,000 years! The main events are the Yamahoko Processions, held on July 17th and 24th!Accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of “Kon, Chiki, Chin,” beautifully decorated floats parade through the streets of Kyoto🏮🎶
These events are recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and the floats—lavishly adorned with exquisite embroidery and textiles—are often called “moving museums.”

Originally a festival of Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto, its origins date back to the Heian period.
It started with a prayer to ward off the epidemic that occurred in the capital at that time, and even now the Gion Festival continues as a festival to ward off epidemics and ward off evil.

We will be holding an event on July 16th from 18:00 to 19:00, where a guide will provide a detailed explanation in English about the history of the Gion Matsuri🎐✨
If you're interested, we warmly invite all guests to participate‼︎

For a list of the Gion Matsuri, please see Kyoto Tourism Official Site “Kyoto Tourism Navi” etc.☺️
