You can browse a selection of books curated by , a bookstore located in Kawaramachi Marutamachi. The owner, who envisions new model for bookstores, has selected books for RAKURO Kyoto on themes such as nature, plants, fermentation, and community development.

"Moderate Large with Japanese-style” is Japanese-Western-style room featuring a queen-size bed and a low-floor tatami area with a low table and cushions. It comfortably accommodates up to two guests, and by laying out two more futons on the tatami area, it can accommodate up to four guests, making it ideal for families or groups. Please take some time at the end of the day to relax in your room and reflect on your travel memories.

We have 9 types of room to meet the diverse needs of both individuals and groups. The “Superior with Japanese-style” room has two single floor beds on the tatami area and a living room set. It comfortably accommodates two guests, and can also be arranged with an additional floor bed and setting up a sofa bed for up to four guests.

You can appreciate paintings, metalwork pieces, and antique items curated by Mr. Ryo Suzuki, founder of the “kankakari” gallery in Funaoka, Kita Ward, Kyoto City. The large wooden panels adorning the lounge walls are actual bottom planks from a boat that once sailed Lake Biwa.
Please relax and unwind in the guest lounge while experiencing these precious antiques and artists' works up close.

RAKURO 京都1Fのご宿泊者専用ゲストラウンジには、京都市北区・船岡山のギャラリー「kankakari」主宰・鈴木良氏が設けた絵画や金工作品、古物を鑑賞いただけます。ラウンジの壁に大きく設えられた木の板は、琵琶湖で実際に使用されていた船の底板です。

It comfortably accommodates two guests, and can be arranged with an additional floor bed for up to three guests, making it suitable for family or group.
*The private bathroom is located outside the room, accessed via the entrance porch.

The background of our front desk on the first floor of RAKURO Kyoto features ceramics crafted by Mr. Takashima of Koshun Kiln, a Kyoto-based kiln specializing in Kiyomizu ware. These pieces are characterized by the vivid colors of the Chinese-derived “Giao Chi ware” and the use of the “itchin” technique, where clay is squeezed out like cream and painted. Enjoy the charm of the irregular lines on the hand-painted wall tiles. The room signs displaying the room numbers also employ the Ittchin technique.

RAKURO 京都１Fのフロントデスク後ろの壁には清水焼の窯元・洸春窯の高島氏が手掛ける焼き物が施されております。中国伝来の「交趾焼」の鮮やかな色彩と、粘土をクリームのように絞り出し絵付けを施す「いっちん」という技法を用いているのが特徴です。ひとつひとつ手描きで絵付けされた壁面タイルの不揃いな線の味わいをお楽しみいただけます。また、お部屋の番号を表示するルームサインも同じくいっちんの技法を用いております。

RAKURO Kyoto features statues of Shoki, the demon-warding deity, adorning its entrance canopy and courtyard. Shoki is an indispensable presence in the cityscape, often placed atop Kyoto townhouse roofs to ward off evil spirits, avert misfortune, and ensure academic success. Our Shoki statue, created by Mr. Masahisa Asada, features a charming design carrying a suitcase, meant to linger in the memory of travelers. It embodies the wish for safe journeys. The paving tiles in the courtyard are also by Mr. Asada. When staying at RAKURO Kyoto, be sure to look for them.

RAKURO 京都のエントランス庇と中庭には、鍾馗（しょうき）さんが飾られております。鍾馗さんは魔除け・厄除け・学業成就として京町屋の屋根に置かれるなど街並みには欠かせない存在です。当館の鍾馗さんは浅田晶久氏によるもので、スーツケースを携えて旅をする人の記憶に残るような可愛らしいデザインが施されており、旅の安全を願う意味が込められています。また、中庭の敷瓦も浅田氏によるものです。RAKURO 京都へご宿泊の際はぜひ探してみてください。
