Just visited Hikone Castle, a designated National Treasure of Japan! 🏯

It features one of only 12 surviving original castle keeps (Genson Tenshu) in the entire country. This means the main tower has never been rebuilt since the Edo period or earlier, perfectly preserving its exact original form. It’s truly a miraculous structure that has survived countless crises, including the Meiji-era demolition edicts and the ravages of war.

Stepping inside feels like traveling 400 years back in time to the era of the Ii clan. I struggled a bit with the incredibly steep wooden stairs—a hallmark of these authentic keeps (haha)—but the stunning view of Lake Biwa from the top, along with the gentle breeze, completely washed away my daily fatigue.It takes about 1hour from Yasaka-ann.

ここは全国にわずか12カ所しかない「現存天守」の一つです。現存天守とは、江戸時代やそれ以前から一度も建て替えられず、当時の姿をそのまま残している天守閣のこと。明治の取り壊しや戦争などのあらゆる危機をくぐり抜けてきた、まさに奇跡の城ですね。

一歩足を踏み入れると、400年前の井伊家の時代にタイムスリップしたような感覚になります。現存天守ならではの「急すぎる階段」には少し苦労しましたが（笑）、天守閣から見下ろす琵琶湖の美しさと心地よい風に、日々の疲れが完全に吹き飛びました。

Yasaka-an's recommended tourist spot in Japan #3

Spending some unforgettable days at this stunning resort in Miyakojima. The moment I arrived, I was blown away by the breathtaking ocean view and the serene atmosphere. Waking up to the sound of waves, lounging by the pool with a tropical drink in hand, and enjoying delicious local cuisine have made this trip an absolute dream. It's the perfect escape from everyday life. I'm already sad to leave, but I'll cherish these beautiful memories.
