A visit to a shrine begins with the custom of purification, called ‘temizu’, which translates to “hand water”. Follow as the locals do: collect water from the 🐉 dragon water spout (such as the one pictured here) using a ladle to rinse your left, then right hand. You don’t have to be a spiritual follower to do this - everyone is welcome to participate in these traditions!
