【梅の季節がスタート🌸】

天満宮では早咲きの梅がほころびはじめましたよ〜
「北野の天神さん」と親しまれている北野天満宮。学問の神さま・菅原道真を祀り、梅の名所としても有名です。
全国に約12,000社ある天満宮・天神社の総本社、北野天満宮は天暦元年（947）創建。
毎月25日には、「天神市（天神さん）」が開催され、たくさんの露店と参拝者で賑わいます。
北野天満宮の見どころといえば「梅」道真は梅をこよなく愛していたそうで、太宰府に出発する際、自宅の庭にあった梅に寄せて「東風吹かば匂ひおこせよ梅の花 主なしとて春を忘るな」と和歌を詠まれました。境内にはゆかりの梅が約50種・約1,500本植わり、2月から3月にかけて梅苑をはじめいたるところで可愛らしい花を目にできます。

The plum blossoms begin to bloom🌸

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is one of the most important of several hundred shrines across Japan that are dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, a scholar and politician who was unfairly exiled by his political rivals. A number of disasters were attributed to Michizane's vengeful spirit after his death in exile, and these shrines were built to appease him.
Michizane loved plum trees, and one tree, called tobiume or flying plum tree, is said to have followed him from Kyoto to his exile in Kyushu. Because of this, a plum tree can always be found standing in front of the offering hall of Tenmangu shrines.
In addition to the tobiume tree, Kitano Tenmangu features an entire grove of nearly 2000 trees that bloom from February to March. The shrine hosts a special tea ceremony, called Baikasai, in this plum grove every February 25th, attended by maiko and geiko of the nearby Kamishichiken geiko district.
If you have chance plum season is also recommended to avoid the crowed of cherry blossom season.
