京都の夏の終わりを告げる「五山の送り火」が明日8月16日（日）に執り行われます。
山に火を灯し、灯籠を流して、
ご先祖様を見送り、残された人々の平安を夜空に祈る儀式です。
20:00、東山に「大」の文字が美しく浮かび上がり、
嵐山の渡月橋や広沢池では灯籠流しが行われ、幻想的な光景が広がります。
水盃（みずさかずき）や受け皿に張った水に五山の火文字を映して飲むと、
一年間病気にならないという、おまじないもあるそうです。
当館から歩いておよそ15分、鴨川に出ると五山の送り火をご覧いただけます。

Gozan no Okuribi, marking the end of Kyoto’s summer, takes place tomorrow on Sunday, August 16.
A ritual to guide ancestral spirits home, mountains are lit with fire and lanterns float upon the water. Prayers for peace rise quietly into the night sky.
At 20:00, the character Dai (great) appears on Higashiyama. Along Arashiyama’s Togetsukyo Bridge and Hirosawa Pond, floating lanterns illuminate the water, revealing a quiet beauty under the evening sky.
A gentle tradition says that drinking water from a cup reflecting the mountain fires brings a year of good health.
The Kamo River lies a 15-minute walk from our doors, offering a view of the fires. We invite you to witness this quiet seasonal tradition of Kyoto.
