Hello, good day everybody! 🤗
This is Carla again from urush*tei. 🌸

Today March 3 is “Girls Day” in Japan, celebrated with a festival called “Hina Matsuri” translated as “Doll Festival or Girl`s Festival”. 🎎
Hina dolls are displayed in homes where girls live and special dishes are eaten on this day such as amazake(a sweet beverage), hina arare(sweet colorful rice crackers), chirashizushi(a type of sushi), and many more. 🍶

The custom of displaying beautiful Hina dolls on this day in homes and public spaces started back in the Edo period (1603-1868)

Hina Matsuri is a celebration dedicated to girls, during which parents pray for the good health and happiness of their daughters. It's said that Hina Dolls will protect children and keep bad things like accidents and diseases away.

Hina Matsuri celebrations differ from region to region. This tradition has its origins in an ancient Japanese belief that bad luck and impurity can be transferred to dolls, which would be thrown into rivers.
Hina Dolls represents the imperial family. The dolls at the top of the platforms represent the emperor and the empress. The rest of the dolls are court ladies, musicians and ministers who used to support the government.

今日3月３日は“ひな祭り"と呼ばれるお祭りで、日本では[女の子の日]という意味です。🎎
雛人形は女の子の住む家に飾られ、甘酒、雛あられ、ちらし寿司など、この日ならではの料理も食べたりします。💮

この日に雛人形を家庭や公共の場に飾る習慣は、江戸時代（1603-1868）から始まりました。🌻

雛祭りとは、親が娘の健康と幸福を祈る、女の子に捧げるお祭りです。雛人形は子供を守り、事故や病気などの悪いものを遠ざけると言われています。

実際、雛祭りの行事は地域によって異なり、雛人形は災害や穢れを移し、川に流すという日本古来の信仰に由来しています。

雛人形は皇室を表し、雛壇の一番上にある人形は天皇と皇后を表しています。それ以外の人形は、宮廷の女性や音楽家、大臣など、政府を支えていた人たちです。

皆さんこんにちは! うるし邸スタッフのラウラとクエンテインです! 本日は美味しいラーメン屋”東龍”を紹介したいと思います。のれんが赤くとても大きいので、すぐ見つけられると思います。銀閣寺から徒歩で10分です!京都の中心地からはちょっと離れていますが、ラーメン屋として価値があるお店だと思います。来店する場合は食券販売機で注文します。2台があって、各々メニューが違うので気をつけてください!
本日頂いたのは味玉東龍ラーメンと野菜東龍ラーメンです。こってりしたラーメンで美味しかったです。辛いのが好きな方にはニラ麻油をおすすめします。とても美味しかったので、再度来店してしまいました。

Hello! Today we would like to introduce to you a really good ramen restaurant. When you visit the Ginkakuji temple, only a 10 minute walk away is the ramen restaurant called Tonryu.
If you enter this place you will find on your left and right side two ticket machines. But be careful which one you will use, because this place is two ramen restaurants in one. They have a totally different menu. When we visited, unfortunately they only served one menu.
If you like your ramen more on the creamy side this place is the place for you. The broth is chicken and a little bit spicy. If you would like to have it spicier (like me) get also the Nira ma-yo as extra topping.
It is quite a popular place so maybe you have to wait a little bit but it is definitely worth it. Even though it is a little bit further away I couldn't hold myself and went again.

みなさんは”節分”という言葉を聞いたことがありますか。🤔
日本人の人はみんな知っている言葉ですが、海外の方々には聞きなじみがないと思います。
毎年のイベントで日本の伝統的な文化の一つとして海外の方々に知ってもらえれば嬉しいです。😍🌸
節分とは「季節の分かれ目」を意味し、「豆まき祭り」とも呼ばれる、春に始まる日本の最も重要な儀式のひとつです。

昔に家では。「鬼は外、福は内」と唱えながら、家族総出で縁起を担いで大豆を家中に撒きます。

神社やお寺でそのような文化的なイベントを行う場所がたくさんあります。旅館から一番近い神社である八坂神社で毎年儀式を体験することができます。もちろんさくらうるし邸でも体験することができます。🌸🥰

Have you heard of the word “setsubun”?
Well, for Japanese people they are very familiar with that word.
However, most of the foreign countries they aren't familiar with.

I wanted to share this traditional and religious cultural event that has been held every year throughout Japan. 🌸🥰
So、 what is Setsubun? 🤔
Setsubun literally means “seasonal division” also called “bean-throwing festival” is one of the most important Japanese rituals starting in spring which involves a variety of symbolic demon exorcisms and rites. 🥰

In traditional homes, the whole family will join together in Mame-maki (bean throwing) and chant, “oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi!” (devils out, fortune in) then enthusiastically scatter dried soy beans about the house to bring good luck. 🥰🌸

There are temples and shrines that hold such cultural events, and the nearest one from our Ryokan is the Yasaka Shrine. ⛩
But you can also experience that with us in our Ryokan. 🌸🥰😍

今日はうるし低の一つの伝統的なインテリアを紹介したいと思います。
日本は、たくさんのユニークで魅力的な習慣や伝統に彩られた美的な国です。
日本の地方文化は、日本のあらゆる面、あらゆるものを特別なものにしています。
日本全国で京都市は数十年以上にわたって、多くの特別で美しい習慣や伝統が保存されている地域の一つであり、それは日本全国に大きな影響を及ぼしています。
そのひとつが「囲炉裏」です。暖房や和食の調理に使われる伝統的なものです。
日本の伝統的な料理の作り方を体験できるこの場所は、イベントの際に使用しており、お客様が雰囲気を楽しみながら、寒い季節から暖炉として暖を取ることができます。
旅館さくらうるし邸の内装は、すべて伝統的な文化保存のための習慣の影響を受けています。
私たちは、日本を愛する旅人たちに、日本文化のエッセンスと古き良き日本のインテリアを表現し、インスピレーションを与えたいと願っています。
Japan is an aesthetic country that is enriched with many unique and fascinating customs and traditions. The local culture in Japan is what makes every aspect of the country and everything so special.
All over Japan, Kyoto City is one of the regions enriched with a lot of extraordinary and beautiful customs and traditions for more than decades of preservation. It has a huge influence on the nation.
One of those is the IRORI, a traditional Japanese sunken hearth “fireplace”. It is traditionally used for heating their homes and for cooking Japanese food.
We provide this area for our events to experience the traditional way of cooking food in Japan, where all of our guests are welcome to enjoy the ambiance and warm up from the cold season as a fireplace.
In our Ryokan Sakura Urush*tei, all of our unique incorporated interiors are mainly influenced by the traditional customs of preserving the culture.
We love to inspire people and especially travelers who love Japan in representing the essence of culture and the old Japanese interiors.

皆さんこんにちは!うるし邸のリンとジェイセルです。🤗
今日は蘆山寺を見に行ってきました。⛩ 元三大師のお寺で、紫式部の源氏物語執筆の地と言われています。ちょうど紅葉時期に訪れたので、とてもきれいでした。🍂 釈迦三尊がおられる部屋もあり、庭にある襖絵や仏像をゆっくり楽しめました。朝ゆったり庭を見ながら、鳥さえずりを聞くのもいいかもしれませんね。みなさんにも蘆山寺を訪れるのはお勧めします。☺️

Good day everyone! 🤗 Guess where we're going today? We’re going to be visiting the Rozanji Temple! ⛩
What’s so special about this place you may ask? Well, this temple is actually associated with Murasaki Shikibu. For those that might not know, she is none other than the author of the “Diary of Lady Murasaki” and “The Tale of Genji”. 📕 This temple used to be their residence and this is where the writer was said to write her great works! Such a great find especially for those that admire her work. Not only that but when you get inside, there are artworks in every corner and the garden is very beautiful! ✨ If you happen to be nearby, stop by this place. It’s very worth visiting. 😊

Greetings to one and all! What a wonderful day to enjoy nature's bounty. ✨Today, we will be taking you to a place with such a refreshing atmosphere. We’ll be introducing you to Myoken-ji Temple! ⛩ Quite a walk from the main street, this temple is not as crowded as other temples which is a wonder because is certainly one of a kind especially at this time when the leaves fully change from green to yellow, orange and red. The inside of the building is just as beautiful as outside. The place sure is big thus you have tons of things to see. They have different rooms with different exhibits inside; from rock gardens, lanterns, clothes, texts and other things. Their gardens are beautiful as well. Such a good find in an off beaten path. Please visit here if you have time.

皆さん、こんにちは。うるし邸のリンとジェイセルです。 🤗 紅葉の時期に訪れた妙顕寺というお寺をご紹介したいと思います。⛩ 日像上人が京都に初めて日蓮宗の道場を創建したのがこのお寺です。個人的は京都に訪ねてきたお寺の中ではこのお寺はかなり広くて、紅葉の時期でも人は少なくゆっくりと拝観できました。😌 中に入ると、紅葉はもちろん、お寺自体も思った以上に大きく、展示物や庭などもとても見応えがありました。夜間は境内の4つの庭がライトアップされ幻想的な雰囲気を作り出すので、夜でも楽しめます。紅葉のシーズンだけではなく、桜の時期も綺麗だと思いますのでチェックしてみてください。🌸😊🍁

Hello everyone! 👋🏼 This is Quentin and Jeycel of Sakura Urush*tei. Today we'll be bringing you to Unryu-in Temple! ⛩ It is known for offering its guests with a great view of their beautiful gardens through differently shaped and angled windows.

This temple also holds the oldest building for sutra copying. Not only that but this temple has art posted in every corner. Ikebana (flower arrangement), 💐 ink paintings and other forms of art are in different sections of the building.☺️ There’s also a tea room where you can enjoy matcha (for a price) while gazing at their gardens. 🍵😌🍂 Your eyes will surely feast with all the things to see here especially at this time of the year. If you happen to be nearby, please consider stopping by. 🤗

本日は雲龍院という場所を紹介したいと思います。
紅葉の時期に訪れたので庭が美しいのはもちろんですが、雲龍院の他の楽しみ方もたくさんあります！
書院を入るとまず出迎えてくれるのが、迫力ある「衝立（ついたて）の龍」です。
この龍は、左右見る方向によって顔が違って見えると言われています。
もう一つは写経の体験です。心のリラクゼーションとしても体験することができます。
雲龍院の本堂での写経は、後水尾天皇より寄進された写経机が現在そのまま使用されています。
雲龍院に庭を眺めるため様々な窓がありますが、普通の窓ではありません。
例えば丸い窓の「悟りの窓」は、禅の世界では”悟り意地”を表し、四角い窓の「迷いの窓」は、人生の苦しみ”生老病死四苦八苦”を角で表しているといわれています。
雲龍院に来たらぜひ色々見て楽しんでください！

Good day to one and all! It's Quentin and Jey again. 👋🏼 Were in a treat for today's featured temple! Because the temple we are introducing you today is only open to the public in autumn when the leaves change colors! 🍁 Little is known to tourists and in a little off beaten path is where Sokushū-in Temple lies. ⛩

This temple was said to be a villa before it was converted so the interior quite resembles that of a villa. The garden stretches wide and the colors are just beautiful. 🍂 You’ll be led to a trail around the temple. One trail leads to uphill where you will see big tombstones dedicated to all the people who fought the war and passed away. 🪦It was interesting in a way. And the view of Kyoto is quite refreshing from up above. 🏙 There is also a resting area where you can just relax and watch the gardens in their raw beauty. 😌 This was surely a treat! Before autumn ends, you may consider adding this one to your list. ☺️

本日紹介する場所は紅葉の時期のみオープンされるお寺で、東福寺境内の奥地にある即宗院（そくしゅういん）です！
茶屋から紅葉を眺めてとても落ち着きます。
お寺の奥まで散歩して坂道を登ってみると墓場があります。実はそこは即宗院の茶停で、明治維新の際に西郷隆盛が徳川幕府から隠れていました。ここより幕府転覆の策を謀り、密令を発したそうです。
倒幕後、西郷隆盛は明治維新で戦死した霊を供養するため、524霊の揮毫をおこない、明治2年に「東征戦亡の碑」を建立しました。日本の歴史に興味を持っている方々にはおすすめです。

Hello. 🙋

When you walk along the Nanzenji temple you will get to the Suirokaku (Water bridge). This time we were lucky because we went early so there were not that many people yet. It was built in 1890 to draw water from Lake Biwako.
Because it passes through Nanzenji they built it so that it would fit into the landscape. 🍁🌿
This place is a tourist spot so our recommendation is to go early to avoid the crowds. 🌄😊

今回南禅寺の水路閣を紹介したいと思います！

琵琶湖疏水の分線にある水路橋で1888年（明治21）に完成しました。南禅寺境内を通過するため、周辺の景観に配慮してデザインされており、静かな東山の風景にとけこんでいて風格ある構造物です。

初めて見た時、なぜ古代ローマの建築が日本のお寺にあるのかと思ったほどです！紅葉の時期には特におすすめです。😊

ドラマを見ている方々もその水路閣を見たことがあるかもしれません！なぜならサスペンスドラマによく使われている場所だからです。そしてインスタント映えのとても人気スポットでもあり、着物姿の多くの方が写真撮影に訪れます。👘
