Once upon a time… In recent years, HASU has gathered four historical houses built in 1910s in the central district of Kikuhama, which has been one of Kyoto’s main red-light districts for a century (until 2011).
These properties are on the two Southeast and Southwest corners of an urban block, thus having a long and coherent linear facade of traditional houses.
On the South West side, there are three houses of 130, 190, and 130 sq. meters. They have been fully refurbished in 2015 and 2020, with a design supervision of the international firm . Each house has its own hotel license, allowing it to be rented for short-term, or long-term as they were during the pandemic years.
On the Southwest side is the historic ryokan Yadoya Hiraiwa, a former emblematic pleasure house that was the first to convert into an inn in 1958. It is the only historic ryokan of this neighborhood and we hope it can keep its hospitality DNA for many years.
During the years 2020-2023 it also accommodated the events. It is also a great accommodation for students coming to Kyoto for workshops and study programs.
近年、HASUは菊浜の中央地区に1910年代に建てられた四軒の歴史的建造物を集めました。この地区は一世紀にわたり（2011年まで）京都を代表する遊郭街の一つでした。
これらの物件は街区南東と南西の二隅に位置し、伝統町家の長く連続した直線的なファサードを形成しています。
南西側には130㎡、190㎡、130㎡の3棟が並び、2015年と2020年に国際設計事務所@stdm_architectsの監修のもと全面改修されました。各棟は個別にホテル営業許可を取得しており、短期貸出はもちろん、コロナ禍では長期滞在施設としても活用されました。
南西側には歴史ある旅館「宿や平岩」が位置する。かつては象徴的な遊興施設であったが、1958年にこの地域で初めて旅館へと転身した。この地区で唯一の歴史ある旅館であり、そのもてなしのDNAを今後も長く継承していくことを願っている。
2020年から2023年にかけては@shokudohiraiwaのイベント会場としても利用されました。また、ワークショップや研修プログラムで京都を訪れる学生の宿泊施設としても最適です。
