先月8月12日
私たち夫婦の間に娘が誕生しました
名前は”凜”です
チロ、ニコ、リン
急に大家族になった気がします
毎日いろんな国の人が訪ねてくる
特殊な環境なので
良い意味で変わった子に育ってくれるのを
ほんの少しだけ期待してます
そしてそう
ハーフなんです
妻が中国人なので当たり前ですが
まさか自分の子がハーフだなんて
不思議な気持ちです
いつか僕に都合の悪い話を
妻と二人で中国語で会話してほしいです
早く話をしたいし
一緒に出かけたいですが
「エッ」
「アー」
しか言わない今がずっと続いてほしいとも思います
これからは家族五人で歩んで参りますので
これからもよろしくお願いいたします

On August 12th, our daughter was born.
Her name is “Rin” (凜).
Chiro, Nico, and Rin.
Suddenly, it feels like we’ve become a big family.
Every day, people from all over the world come to visit us.
Growing up in such a unique environment,
I secretly hope that she’ll grow up to be a little different—in the best possible way.
And yes, she’s half Japanese and half Chinese.
Her mother is Chinese, so of course she is,
but somehow, the thought that my own child is half Chinese still feels a little surreal.
I’m looking forward to the day when she can talk with us.
Although, someday, I’d love for my wife and Rin to have conversations in Chinese about things they don’t want me to understand.
I can’t wait to talk with her,
and to take her places and explore the world together.
But at the same time…
I also wish this moment could last forever.
Right now, all she says is:
“Eh…”
“Ah…”
And somehow, I don’t want that to ever change.
From now on, the five of us will walk through life together.
