When it was built in 1989, the Hiroshima MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) was the first of it's kind in Japan; it focused entirely on contemporary artwork, and it's architecture bears an appropriately forward-looking aesthetic.

The museum features both permanent collections and special exhibitions, and spotlights the work of contemporary artists from Japan and overseas.
