Eisa is a traditional Okinawan performance art rooted in ancestral memorial rites held during the Obon season. The Okinawa All-Island Eisa Festival is the largest Eisa event in the prefecture.


The main venue is easily accessible, located just a 35-minute drive from our hotel! This year, the festival runs for three days, from Friday, September 4, to Sunday, September 6.

The schedule includes the "Michijunee" (street parade) on Koza Gate Street on the first day, the "Okinawa City Youth Festival" on the second day, and the "Main Festival" on the final day featuring an Eisa competition performed by youth associations gathered from across the island at Okinawa City Koza Sports Park.

We highly recommend attending these dynamic performances featuring sanshin music, vocals, and rhythmic drumming!

The museum reopened at a new location in Oonaka, Nago City, in 2023.

The exhibits offer rich opportunities for learning and discovery, featuring a whale skeleton inside the museum, as well as a restored traditional house and a hands-on learning room outdoors.
