The rain-soaked plants breathe deeply,
and soon the fireflies begin to dance.

People of old
believed that decaying grass transformed into fireflies,
and called this season “Rotten Grass Becomes Fireflies.”

In nature,
even if it is invisible to the eye,
there are things that are passed on to the next generation of life.

麻を語る夜がありました。

先日、青土（AONI TEXTILES）さん　 が京都よりお越しいただきご宿泊していただきました。

日が暮れ、
里山が静けさに包まれる頃。

麻のこと、ものづくりのこと、
そして、人の暮らしのことを語り合う。

『大麻と苧麻』

ただの素材ではなく、
日本の風土の中で受け継がれてきた知恵であり、
人と自然を結ぶ存在なのだと、
改めて感じる時間でした。

遠く離れた土地で、
それぞれ異なる形で麻と向き合いながらも、
どこか同じものを見つめている。

そんな不思議なご縁に、
心が温かくなりました。

旅人が運んでくれる物語は、
宿に新しい風を吹き込みます。

この夜の語らいもまた、
asanoneの記憶として静かに積み重なっていきます。

We had an evening dedicated to discussing h**p.

The other day, AONI TEXTILES () visited us from Kyoto and stayed the night.

As the sun set,
and the foothills were enveloped in silence,

we talked about h**p, craftsmanship,
and the lives of people.

“H**p and Ramie”

It was a time to reflect anew that these are not merely materials,
but wisdom passed down through Japan’s climate and landscape,
and a presence that connects people and nature.

Though we engage with h**p in different ways
in distant lands,
we are somehow gazing at the same thing.

This mysterious connection
warmed my heart.

The stories brought by travelers
breathe new life into the inn.

The conversations of this evening, too,
will quietly accumulate as memories of asanone.

1年の中でいちばん好きな季節がやってくる。

緑に染まった山々を車窓から眺めても気分はよく。緑につつまれる中を歩いたらもっとよし。

I sowed h**p seeds just as the giant tree known as the “Cherry blossoms signaling the time to sow h**p seeds” reached full bloom.
May straight h**p stalks grow again this year.
With a prayer in my heart.

The cherry blossom season has passed, and we are now transitioning into the season of fresh greenery.

My favorite season of the year is upon us.

Gazing at the green-tinged mountains from the car window lifts my spirits. Walking amidst the surrounding greenery is even better.

地域の氏神さまは、鳥頭神社。

The local guardian deity is enshrined at Torizuka Shrine.

The mountains reveal their beauty precisely because of the harsh cold.
The crisp air sharpens the spirit.

Last year, many guests visited Asanokura Inn. Many stayed for three consecutive nights, enjoying a therapeutic retreat where they were soothed by the nearby famous hot springs: Kusatsu Onsen, Ikaho Onsen, Shima Onsen, and Sawadani Onsen.
Activities at Kusatsu Onsen Ski Resort are also popular, and the snow conditions are at their best during this season.
