Present from Ukraine

A few months ago, two ladies from Ukraine 🇺🇦 stayed at our guesthouse.

The name of their country written on their guest card was Ukraine!

Tears naturally welled up in my eyes when I thought about how they had come all the way from Ukraine.

So much tragic news flashed through my mind, but I was completely speechless.

I couldn't even say, "Welcome," or "Thank you for coming to Nara." Looking at their daughters' faces, tears welled up in my eyes. I simply nodded over and over again, held their hands, and said, "Please stay warm and have a good rest."
That was all I could say.

And yet, they gave me this adorable, handmade traditional Ukrainian doll.

And now the tears won't stop.

When I think of the hearts of those people who pray every day for a peaceful life,
and who are living their lives to the limit, hoping, "Please, please, live each day."

It really touched my heart.

春雨からすっきりした深い夏への季節の移ろいを楽しむ

上海の図書館に勤めているお客様より
文字入り扇子のプレゼントを頂きました。
有難うございます。
宋の時代の書家：範成大の喜春という題の詩のようです。

「私たちはこのゲストハウスが大好きです。季節を楽しみ、百歳まで長生きしてゲストハウスを続けてください。」
とのメッセ－ジと一緒に頂きました。

嬉しくて、「まだまだ頑張るよ。また宿泊してください。」とお見送りしました。

当館は書道家が書道教室を開いていた築１００年の古民家ですとご案内し続けて１５年。
とても嬉しいプレゼントでした。

空海が遣唐使として唐に渡り、中国から持ち帰った「梵」という書の前で贈呈記念写真でした。

Wazuka, known as the hometown of tea growing
（お茶の里として知られる和束町）
(22km from Guesthouse Naramachi)

You can get a map of the cycling road around Wazuka's tea fields on site. The circular road is very fun with the beautiful 360-degree views of the tea fields changing one after another.

The distance is short, but it is an interesting course with repeated short ups and downs. I passed many cyclists there.

There are also sweet shops scattered around the scenic spots and places where you get tired from the uphill climb, so you can enjoy cycling, walking around, or even using a mini cart.

There are large tea factories here and there, and the aroma of new tea follows you wherever you go.

The course that runs through the tea fields is connected by gentle and rhythmic curves.
And it is a maze with almost no signs at the corners. (lol)

The guide map for the promenade looks like a very complicated and mysterious one-stroke drawing.
Walking around this maze is a great way to exercise your brain!
I'm sure you'll have more fun if you don't use Google Maps (lol)

お茶の里として知られる和束町

（ゲストハウスならまちから22km）

和束の茶畑を巡るサイクリングロードの地図は現地でもらえます。周回道路は360度見渡せる美しい茶畑の景色が次々に変わり、とても楽しいです。

距離は短いですが、短いアップダウンが繰り返される面白いコースです。多くのサイクリストとすれ違いました。

景勝地や上り坂で疲れる場所には甘味処も点在しているので、サイクリングや散策、ミニカートでも楽しめます。

あちこちに大きな茶工場があり、どこへ行っても新茶の香りが漂います。

茶畑の中を走るコースは緩やかでリズミカルなカーブでつながっています。

そして曲がり角にはほとんど標識がなく迷路になっています。（笑）

遊歩道の案内図は、とても複雑で不思議な一筆書きのようです。

この迷路を歩くのは、頭の体操にもなります！
Googleマップを使わない方がきっと楽しいですよ（笑）
