Flying Sumo Surf Co.

Pension, cafe and surf shop located between JR Onjuku Station and the beautiful Onjuku Beach. Only a minute walk to the beach. Family friend environment.

We are Pension, Cafe, and Surf Shop located in Onjuku, Chiba. Pension has 4 studios and 1 two room apartment with kitchenette. Staying customers can enjoy our BBQ facilities. Cafe serves pizza, hamburger, hot dogs along with may different kinds of american craft beers. Surf shops has about 40 boards in a rental pool from 6'0 to 12'0 SUP. We also provides surf/SUP lesson upon reservation by NSSA ce

rtified surf instructor. We host live concerts by local musicians every Saturday evening from mid July to the end of August. Pets are welcome in outdoor seating. International vibe.

To Friends and Family of Flying Sumo. Going back to our beginning in 2009 we've had an incredible run and it's really been a lot of fun. We could not have done it without all of you. But now the time has come to move on to new adventures. We are embarking on an around the world surf trip. If you'd like to stay in touch and meet up somewhere find either Kelly or I on facebook or instagram.

No updates on when Flying Sumo will open. Foreigners are still barred from entry into Japan. On the positive side, we are in Park City, Utah hanging at the pool and learning PET CPR.!!

Dear family and friends of Flying Sumo. We continue to corn-teen in the US as non-Japanese citizens are still not allowed entry into Japan. As such, we are closed and will remain closed for the foreseeable future. We will post periodic updates here as we get more information. Hope everyone is staying safe!!!

Dear Family & Friends of Flying Sumo.

At Flying Sumo our #1 concern is the health and well being of our staff, customers and the local community.

As such, Flying Sumo will not be opening for the Golden Week 2020 holiday as originally planned. We hope everyone is well and following the appropriate recommendations from the relevant health care professionals so that we can get through COVID-19 and we can see you back in Onjuku and in the water.

For those customers that are storing their surfboards in the shop, we will be in contact with you soon to discuss options.
