Hirafu is about to come alive. 🎆

Hirafu Matsuri is back on August 28–29 — and it’s one of the most fun summer nights in Niseko. Food stalls packed with local and international flavours, live music, taiko drumming, pump tracks, newspaper sword fights, and the legendary mochi toss where some mochi hide prize vouchers inside. The whole thing wraps up with a fireworks display set to taiko — right in the heart of Hirafu village.

Unique because of its international vibe, Hirafu Matsuri is a local Japanese festival with a global flavour — very much like Niseko itself.

Niseko is becoming Asia’s mountain bike capital. And this month is proof. 🚵

In just a few years, Niseko has built over 20km of cross-country, flow, and downhill trails across its mountains — free community trails at Twin Peaks, a gondola-served flow trail at Grand Hirafu, and a dedicated downhill course at Annupuri. The same mountains that draw the world’s best skiers in winter are now drawing riders from around globe in summer.

On August 22–23, Annupuri hosts a round of Japan’s premier Downhill Series — seeding run Saturday, finals Sunday. Whether you’re clipping in or cheering from the finish line, it’s an event you won’t want to miss.

Looking for a family day out from Hirafu? 🦕

Nitori Yoichi Dinosaur Park just opened on a hilltop about 1 hour from Miru Nozomi Views. About 30 life-size dinosaurs, some moving and spraying water, a viewing deck overlooking Yoichi’s wine fields and the Sea of Japan, and a dinosaur kart corner for the little ones.
