One of the nicest things about staying in Akiu isn’t just the scenery.. it’s having the time to slow down and enjoy it.

If you’re looking for a monthly stay in Japan, we’d love to welcome you to our guesthouse by the river in Akiu Onsen, Sendai.

Whether you’re a digital nomad, remote worker, working holiday traveler, student, backpacker, or simply someone who wants to experience a quieter side of Japan, this is a place where you can settle in and feel at home.

For ¥60,000 (approximately USD $400) per room for 30 days, you’ll have a private room, utilities included (except heating), Wi-Fi, a shared kitchen and bathroom, and a peaceful riverside setting surrounded by nature.

From here, it’s easy to explore hot springs, hiking trails, local cafés, and many of the beautiful places that make the Tohoku region so special.

We’re currently accepting long-term stays from late September through December, and availability is limited.

This week, we visited Kaiba Glass Works, where each piece is carefully handmade using traditional glassblowing techniques. Watching molten glass slowly become something beautiful is something you have to experience in person.

If you’re exploring Akiu, I highly recommend taking some time to visit local workshops like this. They are part of what makes this area so special.
