Asagiya is a private rental house in Hida Takayama.

We are now accepting reservations for December and January.

We renovated this more than 100-year-old house to offer our guests a small glimpse into everyday life in Takayama.

We’re also happy to share our favorite places to eat within walking distance, as well as some lovely routes for a stroll around the neighborhood.

All of our guests receive a small guide with our personal recommendations.

譲受けた時は新建材でリフォームされた1階でしたが、構造、天井、建具などを残し、本漆喰で仕上げた空間にしました。

Asagiya is a renovated wooden house that is over 100 years old.

When we first took over the house, it was 95 years old.
At the time, the first floor had been renovated using modern building materials. During our renovation, we preserved much of the original structure, ceilings, and fittings, while refinishing the interior with traditional Japanese lime plaster.

Lime plaster naturally helps regulate humidity, making it particularly well suited to Japan’s humid summers. It is a simple, natural material that helps create a comfortable atmosphere inside an old wooden house.

We hope you will experience the unique feel of the space during your stay at Asagiya.

Why not start your morning with a visit to the Miyagawa Morning Market?

It's about a 10-minute walk from Asagiya through Furui Machinami (Old Town).

The market stretches along the Miyagawa River from Kajiyabashi Bridge to Yayoibashi Bridge.

Open every morning from around 8:00 AM until noon, you'll find fresh local vegetables and fruit, as well as homemade pickles, miso, and a variety of traditional crafts—perfect for souvenirs.

The Miyagawa Morning Market is held 365 days a year.
