Cutting clear-face white pearl into uniformly narrow pieces by hand is a challenging process. However, the finished inlay becomes a very cool position marker—subtle rather than flashy, yet full of character. I believe that custom inlay is not only about intricate and extravagant designs; simplicity can be just as compelling.

For this inlay, I incorporated the shape of a Japanese zelkova (keyaki) leaf into the design for .

This inlay 雉に白梅(a pheasant and white plum blossom) was made for Mod-D.

With this, all the inlays for the Spring Japan Guitar Show are complete. I look forward to seeing the wonderful finishes from each luthier.

These inlays for a special ukulele

This year marks my 20th anniversary, as well as Seilen’s 15th anniversary, making this a truly special instrument—also celebrating the milestone of reaching Seilen serial number 2000.

The design theme is “Nalu” (wave) in Hawaiian. I was deeply moved by the Hawaiian spirit and the meaning embodied in this word, which led me to choose it.

And one more special feature—this ukulele is made entirely of Brazilian rosewood (Jacaranda)! The neck, fingerboard, top, sides, back, and even the bridge are all crafted from it. Of course, it will come with full CITES documentation.

This special model will be exhibited in both Sound Messe Osaka 2026 and Tokyohandcraft Guitar Fest 2026, so please Check and try it!!

本日2026年2月26日でOGAWA INLAY CRAFTはおかげさまで創業20周年を迎えました。

お客様、国内外の製作家様、楽器店様、関係各所皆々様、日々支えてくれている家族に改めて感謝いたします。

ここまで自分が続けられたというのは、やはりギターという楽器が「単なる音を出す道具」にとどまらないのだなと強く感じています。
なぜヒトは飾るのか？、装飾とは何か？を常に感じ考えながらこれからも精進して参ります。

誰かの「特別」にたずさわれるのはとても刺激的でプレッシャーもあることですが、それらを楽しめる人間でありたいです。

皆々様、これよりもご愛顧賜りますようよろしくお願い申し上げます。

この春は大阪サウンドメッセにてKeystone,Syezo Acoustics,Seilen各製作家さんとのジョイントワークを、東京ハンドクラフトギターフェスでは大阪に加えてFUJII GUITARS,Yokoyama Guitarsとのジョイントワークをお披露目する予定ですのでお楽しみに！各会場でお会いしましょう！！

Today, February 26, 2026, OGAWA INLAY CRAFT proudly celebrates its 20th anniversary.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our customers, luthiers in Japan and abroad, music stores, all related partners, and above all, my family who supports me every day.

Looking back, I strongly feel that the reason I have been able to continue this work is because the guitar is far more than “just a tool that produces sound.”
Why do human beings decorate? What is ornamentation?
I will continue to refine my craft while constantly reflecting on these questions.

To be entrusted with someone’s “special” instrument is both inspiring and filled with pressure — but I hope to remain a person who can truly enjoy that responsibility.

I sincerely appreciate your continued support.

This spring, at the Osaka Sound Messe, I will present joint works with Keystone, Syezo Acoustics, and Seilen.
At the Tokyo Handcraft Guitar Festival, in addition to those makers, I will also unveil collaborations with FUJII GUITARS and Yokoyama Guitars.

I look forward to seeing you at the venues.
