【Adapting to the Mud: Building Bamboo Drying Racks】
We thought harvest would be a breeze with the combine this year, but our muddy rice field had other plans.
The ground stayed too wet, making even the walk-behind harvester a risky bet.
So, quick pivot—we decided to build traditional bamboo racks (odagake) and sun-dry the rice. 🌾
Thankfully, a neighbor let us cut some sturdy bamboo from their grove.
We spent the day trimming branches, cutting poles to size, and loading up the mini truck.
Standing against the evening sky, the loaded truck looked quietly dependable. The harvest journey continues. 🛻✨

コンバインであっという間に終わらせるつもりが、田んぼのぬかるみは手強かった。
一部はバインダーすら沈みそうなくらいで、これはもう観念するしかなかった。
急遽、天日乾燥のおだがけを作ることにした。 運よく近くでちょうどいい竹を伐採させてもらえることになり、感謝🌾
長さを整えて枝を払い、軽トラの荷台へ。
夕焼け空を背負った軽トラの姿が、なんだか妙に頼もしく見える🛻
機械でパパッと終わらないのも、また自然相手の醍醐味か。
さて、まだまだ作業は続く。
