【閉館のお知らせ -So long, and thanks for all the fish- 】

SHIROKUMA INN Bed & Breakfast will be closing its doors after the last reservation on November 3. We are truly grateful for the wonderful times we’ve shared with all of you since we opened on May 1, 2019.
Although we listed May 1 as our opening date, we actually opened on April 28. We somehow managed to complete our first registration on a booking site, it seems we hadn’t set the start date for accepting reservations correctly. I still clearly remember the panic I felt right after finishing the registration—around 8:00 p.m.—when a last-minute reservation came in, and I thought, “What is this notification!?” We told the guest that we were still preparing and couldn’t serve breakfast, but after they checked in, we decided we could at least serve pancakes, so the two of us walked to Familymart in the middle of the night to buy milk… That was our first day. April 28th… that means… yes, Golden Week. Reservations just kept coming in, and right from the start, we were blessed with the “baptism of fire” of being fully booked day after day😂
Since then, we’ve served breakfast to countless travelers from around the world, had many wonderful conversations, and received so much happiness from them. It was a lot of fun, but even Shirokuma can’t defy the passage of time, so we’ve decided to close the B&B at the end of this season.
We’d like to welcome you all at “Shirokuma’s Guest House,” a whole-house rental. A complete house with all your basic needs, so we'll hope it will make you feel right at home as if you were living in the town of Iwase.
While we won’t be serving breakfast anymore, Shirokuma will still be handling check-ins in person, so you’ll get to see us at least once. And if you happen to spot Shirokuma wandering around Iwase, please feel free to say hello.

この度SHIROKUMA INN Bed & Breakfastは11月３日のご予約を最後に閉館することになりました。2019年5月１日の開業から７年半の間、みなさんと楽しい時間を過ごせたことをとても幸せに思います。
開業は５月１日としていますが、実際には4月28日でした。初めての予約サイトへの登録をなんとかこなしたものの、受付開始の日を正しく設定していなかったらしく、なんと登録を終えた直後、夜８時ごろに直前予約が入ってしまい「この通知は何！？」と大慌てしたことを今でもはっきりと覚えております。まだ準備中なこと、朝食は出せないことをお伝えして来ていただきましたが、チェックインの後でパンケーキなら出せると思い立ち、夜中に二人で歩いてファミリーマートへ牛乳を買いに行った。。というのが初日でした。４月２８日ということは．．．そう、ゴールデンウィークです。そのまま予約が入り続け、開始早々連日満室というありがたい洗礼を受けました😂
あれから７年半、世界中の数えきれないくらい多くの旅の方たちに朝食をお出しし、たくさんお話しして、たくさんのハッピーを分けてもらいました。とても楽しかったのですが、しろくまも寄る年波には勝てず、今シーズンをもってB&Bは閉めることにいたしました。
今後は、一棟貸の宿「Shirokuma’s Guest House」でみなさんをお迎えしたいと思います。普通の町屋で何も特別なものはありませんが、滞在に必要なものはそろっているので、岩瀬の町で暮らすようにお泊りいただけたらと思っております。
朝食はもうお出しできませんが、チェックインはこれからも私たちが対面で行いますので少なくとも１回はお目にかかれます。そして、岩瀬の町に出没しているしろくまを見かけたら気軽にお声がけいただければ嬉しいです。
と言うことで、またお会いできる日を楽しみにしつつ、改めて感謝申し上げます。
