[Additional Reservations for the Kyushu Recovery Support Discount Open at Noon on Friday, October 9, 2026]

The Kyushu Recovery Support Discount is a government program designed to stimulate tourism demand in the Kyushu region, which was affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake, by providing financial support for travel and accommodation expenses in Kyushu.

Under this program, 50% of the accommodation cost will be subsidized, up to a maximum of ¥20,000 per guest per stay.

As this is an additional allocation of reservations, we expect the available slots to fill up quickly. If you wish to take advantage of this discount, we recommend making your reservation as soon as possible.

[Kyushu Recovery Support Discount Campaign Begins on September 24, 2026]

We would like to express our heartfelt sympathy to everyone affected by the recent Kumamoto Earthquake.

The Kyushu Recovery Support Discount Campaign is a government subsidy program designed to encourage travel to Kyushu following the impact of the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake. The program provides financial support for travel and accommodation expenses within the Kyushu region.

Eligible guests can receive a 50% discount on accommodation costs, up to a maximum subsidy of ¥20,000 per person per trip reservation.

【Tomoko Ushijima’s exhibition is back again this year!】

An exhibition by artist Tomoko Ushijima is now on view at the Former District Office, an art space located just a one-minute walk from Craft Inn Te, our traditional Japanese house hotel in Yame.

Tomoko Ushijima creates works that use materials found in Yame, such as Yame washi paper, mokuro (wood wax), konnyaku paste, and wax tree, while drawing inspiration from the culture, everyday life, and natural environment of Yame. From there, her works seem to take flight into much larger worlds—such as the universe, time, and life.

The darkness of the Former District Office and the light streaming into it.The interplay of light and shadow brings out the works even more, making the entire space feel like one complete work of art.

Craft Inn手[té] は、八女をはじめとした九州の手仕事を体感いただける古民家ホテルです。

下川織物は八女市に唯一残る、機械織りの久留米絣の織元です。3代目の下川強臓さんは、「久留米絣を世界中の人に開かれた織物にしたい」と語り、国内外のデザイナーやアーティストのコラボーレションを重ねています。

そうやって久留米絣の新たな魅力を生み出している下川さんは、私たちがCraft Inn手[té] を運営する際に道標にしているような存在です。

【Meet the Makers of Craft Inn Te⑤ Shimogawa Orimono】

Craft Inn Te is a traditional Japanese house hotel where you can experience the craftsmanship and handmade traditions of Yame and throughout Kyushu.

The white noren curtain hanging at the front entrance, as well as the pink Kurume Kasuri cushions and bed throw in the Bamboo Room, were all custom-made for us by Shimogawa Orimono.

Shimogawa Orimono is the only remaining weaver of machine-woven Kurume Kasuri in Yame City. Its third-generation owner, Mr. Shimogawa Kyozo says, “I want to make Kurume Kasuri a textile that is open to people all over the world,” and has collaborated with designers and artists both in Japan and abroad.

Through these collaborations, Mr. Shimogawa continues to discover new possibilities and appeal in Kurume Kasuri. He is someone we look to as a guiding presence in the way we operate Craft Inn Te.

🌸桜の季節はCraft Inn 手[té]へ🌸

今年の福岡の桜開花予想は3/20、満開予想日は3/29だそうです。八女の古民家ホテルCraft Inn 手[té]の周りにも桜の名所があります。

その一つがCraft Inn 手[té]から歩いて行ける距離にある無量寿院さん。無量寿院は738年に創建され、1601年に現在の場所に移築された歴史ある寺院です。参道の桜のトンネルや、境内に咲き誇る桜をぜひご覧ください。

🌸 Cherry Blossom Season at Craft Inn Te 🌸

The cherry blossoms in Fukuoka are forecast to begin blooming around March 20, with full bloom expected around March 29 this year.

Around the traditional townhouse hotel Craft Inn Te, you will find several lovely spots to enjoy the blossoms.

One of them is Muryōjuin Temple, located within walking distance from Craft Inn Te. Muryōjuin is a historic temple originally founded in 738 and relocated to its current site in 1601. We highly recommend strolling through the beautiful tunnel of cherry blossoms along the temple approach and enjoying the magnificent sakura blooming throughout the temple grounds.

Reservations for this period are filling up quickly, but a few rooms are still available.

Even after March 3rd, Hina dolls are still beautifully displayed here in Yame. The Yame Bonbori Festival, where Yame Fukushima is adorned with charming box-style Hina dolls, will continue until March 15th.

【Craft Inn手[té] のつくり手紹介④石田淳さん】

八女の古民家ホテルCraft Inn手[té] は周辺の伝統工芸のつくり手による家具や調度品に彩られています。

竹の部屋の一階にあるのは八女の竹細工の作家である石田淳さんに作っていただいた竹のテーブル。竹編みの美しさをまっすぐに感じでいただきたいという思いで作っていただきました。

筍の生産量が全国1位の八女は竹林が多く、暮らしの中に竹細工が根付いている地域。農業のかたわら、日々の生活で使う道具を竹で作ってきました。石田淳さんはそんな八女の竹文化をは引き継ぐ作り手です。

石田さんは、自ら伐採した竹から余分な油分や水分を抜き、竹を幾度も割いて、皮を剥ぎ、角の面取りをして、「竹ひご」を作り、編んでいきます。

竹細工というと多種多様や編み技法に目が行きがちですが、石田さん曰く「竹ひご」を作るまでがものづくりの大半を占めるそうです。

そんなものづくりの背景も含めて、Craft Inn手[té] で竹の世界を楽しんでください。

【Meet the Makers of Craft Inn Te④ Atsushi Ishida】

Craft Inn Te, our traditional townhouse hotel in Yame, is adorned with furniture and decor handcrafted by local artisans of the region’s traditional crafts.

On the first floor of the Bamboo Room is a bamboo table crafted by Atsushi Ishida, a bamboo artisan from Yame. It was made so that guests can experience the beauty of bamboo weaving in a direct and honest way.

Yame is rich in bamboo groves and is Japan’s leading region for bamboo shoot production, where bamboo craftsmanship has long been part of everyday life. Alongside farming, they have long made everyday tools from bamboo for daily life.
Atsushi Ishida is one of the makers who carries on this bamboo culture.

Using bamboo he harvests himself, Ishida removes excess oil and moisture, splits and refines the bamboo into fine strips, and weaves them by hand. He says that making these bamboo strips is the most important part of the craft.
