Our Story
Island Camp offers a perfect opportunity to escape the humdrum of city life or a change of pace in between visiting the many national parks. A chance to relax, recuperate and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this idyllic island.
The camp is located on Ol Kokwe island, home of the Njemp tribe, in lake Baringo.
This tented camp comprises 16 luxury tents with en-suite bathroom, whether Twin, Double or Triple (for families). Four of the Superior rooms have large private verandahs with a splash pool. Seven Deluxe rooms all have lake front views to catch the beautiful sunrises across the lake. .
All tents are shaded by a roof of Papyrus (local reeds) and are separated by green lawns and natural rockeries. They overlook the lake and beyond to the Great Rift Valley.
Lake Excursions with our experienced bird guides are available and trips to “Giraffe Island” at Ruko Conservancy can be arranged. Water sports include kayaking and boat donuting. Walking safaris to the top point of Ol Kokwe Island through the local Njemp Village can also be arranged. A high point for many is the Sundowner boat ride on the lake ending on “Gibraltar Island.”
