Every Cabana we have has views over the peaceful Ocean. Three of our elevated Cabana’s have views both infront and behind as we sit on the bend of the island.

Being in such a peaceful, private setting protected by the channel we have no light or noise pollution at night and wake up to the breeze through the palms, beautiful bird song and the white triangles of fisherman sailing out to sea. It’s the magic of Lamu, its traditions and people that feeds this unique nostalgia at The Cabanas. We are grateful to be part of this timeless world everyday and will always serve to protect its peace and beauty.

We are feeling incredibly grateful (and a bit overwhelmed) to see our beautiful wild nests listed alongside some of the most iconic hotels in the world - it is such a humbling milestone

Thank you all for being part of our rollercoaster journey. If nothing else this month is teaching us that if you lead with love… it may take a while…. It may hurt along the way, but things get better, and magic happens

For us, this is a celebration of the love our small team pours into every guest experience and the heartfelt hospitality we’ve worked so hard to create and preserve on our slice of Lamu Island and Mt Kenya.

As small family-owned and run hotels, we don’t have a giant corporate network behind us, but a wonderful community of friends and guests who have walked this journey with us. We appreciate you all more than you know for helping us keep these dreams and beautiful legacy alive.

A day at the Cabanas…slow, soft, sacred 🌿

The week is officially behind us, and the only “deadline” left is catching the last of the light.

Friday evenings at The Cabanas is our favorite slow-motion ritual. It’s meeting in the sanctuary of a private pod with a crisp bottle of wine, an ambitious array of dips, and enough crackers to last through every “put the world to rights” conversation we’ve saved up.

As the island pace takes over, the world’s noise becomes a distant memory. We’re here for the vital stuff: the rambling stories, the uncontrollable giggles, and those quiet “remember when” moments that anchor us. All of it backdropped by the Indian Ocean’s nightly performance as the sun slips behind the horizon before us.
