At the far end of Namibia, at EPUPA FALLS on the Kunene River, a NEW LODGE has opened just in time for high season - the EPUPA FALLS LODGE. The lodge has been built from Bamboo and other local materials, directly opposite the falls, where the river drops into a 60 meter gorge. 5 DBL rooms/chalets feature solar-lights, toilet & shower and a table and 2 chairs. With an open view towards the lush Kunene river, one can enjoy the magnificent surroundings to the fullest. A spacious car-port is located on ground level. The restaurant of the lodge is located nearby also at the riverbank, overlooking the falls. The oldest camping place in the area is situated to the right of the lodge, along the banks of the river and under shady Makalani Trees. The owner of Epupa Falls Lodge is a well-known personality with 23 years of experience in Kaokoland - Mr Koos Verwey. He has built a solid reputation with his dedication and loyalty to the local people. A guided tour to a local Himba village is a 'must-do ' when visiting Epupa.
Epupa is around 900 km from Windhoek and 180 km from the capital of the Kunene Region, OPUWO, and it can be reached by any type of car during the dry season ( from Jan - April 4x4 vehicles are definitely recommended). Epupa's airstrip is 7 km away; There are however no shops or petrol station.
