Meet the tree hyrax — a small, fluffy forest dweller that sounds like it swallowed a megaphone.
And here’s the twist: it’s one of the closest living relatives of the Elephant. Yes, that elephant. 🐘

No trunk. No tusks. Just… very loud opinions after dark.

Unlike their rock-loving cousins, tree hyraxes prefer life in the canopy — sleeping in tree hollows by day and turning into surprisingly dramatic vocalists at night. If you’ve ever heard an eerie call echoing through camp and thought “what on earth was that?”… congratulations, you’ve met this tiny “elephant relative.”
