There is a reason you so often find a leopard in a tree.

Leopards are most active under the cover of darkness. By late morning, as the sun climbs higher, they begin to retreat from the heat, often settling high in the branches where the air is cooler and the shade offers a little respite.

And they love a good view.

From the treetops, a leopard can survey the landscape below, keeping an eye out for potential prey while staying safely away from competing predators.

Their remarkable strength also allows them to haul kills, sometimes heavier than themselves, high into the branches, where a hard-earned meal can be kept out of reach.

So on a warm afternoon out on the plains, look up.

You might just find one of Africa's most elusive cats doing what she does best: resting, watching, and waiting from above.

Tours run daily, and there's no need to book ahead. Walk through the workshop and watch glass take shape by hand, beads strung one at a time, fabric turned on the loom.

Every piece on the shelves is made with care, and behind it, an even more beautiful story: of the artisan who made it.

After days on the Serengeti plains, this is where the safari comes to rest...

Arusha Coffee Lodge sits within one of Tanzania's largest coffee estates, thirty plantation houses scattered among evergreen fields in the shadow of Mount Meru.

The pace is slower here... mornings might mean a walk through the coffee rows before the heat sets in. By afternoon, you can cool off in the pool or spend some time relaxing in our spa. Evenings end by the fire in the lounge, coffee never far from reach.

Josh Outram had a deep love for flying, for Kenya, and for the extraordinary landscapes of the North.

He pursued that passion throughout his life, sharing places few people ever get to experience and using his skills in support of wildlife and conservation across the country.

We were fortunate to know Josh, to work alongside him, and to experience some of that world with him.

This is a small tribute to his life, his passion and the contribution he made to a place he loved deeply.

As we remember Josh, we also remember every life lost in this tragedy. We extend our deepest condolences to their families, friends and loved ones.

May they all rest in peace.

The Lewa Safari Camp you know, with a few thoughtful changes.

The camp has recently been refurbished, bringing fresh energy to its guest tents and shared spaces while keeping the warmth and character that have always made it feel like home. We added new outdoor dining areas, quieter spaces to sit, and interiors pulled from the colours of the Lewa landscape.

Beyond the camp, the incredible operates as wild as ever. Game drives head out daily, with Mount Kenya always on the horizon.

Moments in the wild are worth waiting for...

This World Photography Day, we’re celebrating the wildlife stories unfolding across Mara North Conservancy: 70,000 acres of protected wilderness, with fewer vehicles, open landscapes and game drives reserved for camps within the conservancy.

Scott, a passionate wildlife photographer at Elewana reflects:

“Wildlife photography is a way to freeze that moment in time. I often look back at a photo from even a few years ago and remember what was happening around that encounter, and how I was feeling at the time.”

At Little Elephant Pepper Camp, guests experience this beautiful conservancy in a setting that allows for more natural, unhurried encounters.

The original Elephant Pepper Camp has stood in the Mara North Conservancy for over 20 years. Last month, it got a smaller neighbor.

Little Elephant Pepper Camp officially opened recently, built around a private dining tent and a dedicated fire pit. Three safari suites and one two-bedroom family suite, each with its own veranda and plunge pool, overlooking a natural mineral lick where wildlife moves through on its own time.

Four suites, open wilderness and the timeless rhythms of safari all around. A new chapter in an old safari story.
