Today the LNRA has put in place a management plan to control forces that threaten the lake’s quality and beauty, and its purpose is to try and implement this plan. The shoreline is almost entirely in private hands; the lake itself is a national asset and the lake is a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention.
