Earth Day, a celebration of the wild.

In Ol Pejeta Conservancy, every part of the ecosystem plays a role. It’s a place where conservation in action protects not just individual species, but the intricate balance that allows nature to thrive.

Today, we celebrate the power of conservation to safeguard these landscapes, protect wildlife, and ensure that this remarkable ecosystem endures for generations to come.

Meals at camp are part of the safari, not a pause from it.

They’re moments when the pace softens, stories unfold, and the wild feels a little closer.

Every dish begins close to home. Through our farm-to-fork philosophy, we use fresh, organically grown ingredients harvested from our kitchen gardens and sourced from nearby local farms, keeping our food miles low and our connection to the land strong.

Because at , some of the most unforgettable safari moments don’t happen on a game drive, they happen around the table, under open skies, with the warmth of thoughtful food, light footprints, and even better company.

From the moment guests arrive, something quietly special happens.

You’re not simply welcomed; you’re embraced like family. The team’s warmth is immediate and genuine, creating a sense of ease that settles in long before your first game drive.

Evenings are made softer by thoughtful touches — cozy tents, hot water bottles tucked into beds against the Laikipia chill, and the kind of care that makes you feel truly at home in the wild. It’s hospitality that doesn’t announce itself loudly but stays with you long after you leave.

Just a few metres from camp, the wild carries on.

Captured by guide Peter Kariuki, this moment unfolds beside the waterhole as Gloria, our resident hippo, takes her unhurried stroll past a pack of hyenas deep into a feast. No tension. No drama. Just quiet coexistence. Gloria barely spares them a glance, moving with the confidence of someone who knows this landscape belongs to everyone — in its own way.

Celebrating 25 Years of Sustainable Safaris. Kicheche Camps

This year has been particularly meaningful as we celebrate 25 years of sustainable safaris, a journey shaped by strong partnerships, shared values, and a collective commitment to conservation and community empowerment.

The anniversary spirit reached , where the team held their own celebration and honoured Guide Peter Kariuki for his remarkable 14 years of dedicated service, years spent creating unforgettable guest experiences and stewarding this landscape with passion.

Memorably, the moment was framed by the gentle presence of visiting elephants, a fitting reminder of why conservation lies at the heart of everything we do. 🐘🌿

Happy International Cheetah Day!

At , sightings of these finely tuned hunters are always a reminder of how fragile and extraordinary the wild truly is. Their survival depends on healthy ecosystems, safe corridors, and continued support for community-driven conservation within Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Here’s to protecting the cats that move like wind and watching them thrive.

I have spent the last few days at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Nanyuki and have loved it there. Many thanks to the staff, especially Faith, Naftali and amazing guide/ driver Jamlex for making my stay memorable. Jamlex was amazing and able to position the vehicle to the nearest centimetre to enable the right angle plus adapted the vehicle to my needs (removed seats and door to maximise photography opportunities).
Here is a quick edit from a photo taken yesterday of this stunning tiny bird we spotted in the vegetation - anyone know what species ( Melanie Felton) ? M xx

"Hanging in There - male Rüppell’s Weaver Bird"
The guides at Kicheche Laikipia very skilfully manoeuvred the jeep so I could stand on a seat and shoot through the sunroof in order to capture the weaver bird at its nest. The birds were extremely busy nest building. The male bird builds the nest then hangs underneath it and displays as in this picture. The female comes to inspect it. If not happy the nest is dismantled and the male has to start again! M xx

is both a reminder of the urgent need to protect rhinos and a celebration of the incredible progress being made to secure their future.

At , dedicated rangers, expert veterinarians, and passionate conservationists work tirelessly on the frontlines of rhino protection.

Home to the largest population of black rhinos in East Africa, Ol Pejeta has achieved a remarkable milestone: 7 years without a single poaching incident. This success has even enabled the relocation of rhinos to neighbouring conservancies, expanding protection across the region.

So far in 2025, 18 rhino calves have been born at Ol Pejeta, bringing us closer to a potential record year and offering real hope for the species.

The Conservancy is also home to the world’s last two northern white rhinos, Najin and her daughter Fatu, who live under 24/7 care and protection.

Every visit to supports these critical efforts—helping ensure rhinos continue to roam for generations to come.
