Sprawling over the Laikipia plains, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is a prolific wildlife conservancy that is popular with celebrities, conservationists, writers and photographers. Lewa found recent media attention with stories of a Royal romance and the fairytale engagement that followed. Visitors to Lewa are privy to some of the most spectacular wildlife viewing that Kenya has to offer: lion, leopard

and jackal thrive on the rich diversity of prey that inhabits the area. The Wildlife Conservancy is home to the largest concentration of Grevy’s zebra in the world, and its range of habitats attracts diverse birdlife and hosts over 130 Black and White rhino. Featuring large tented bedrooms with verandahs and full en-suite bathrooms, Lewa Safari camp offers authentic comfort for its visitors; cozy log fires in the sitting room are perfect for relaxing after a day in the Conservancy. This unique and exclusive retreat offers privileged access to 65,000 acres of private protected wilderness. Underpinning the glamorous magnetism of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is a serious mission: a pioneering and pragmatic approach to conservation, founded in the 1970’s, that has developed into a thriving and globally recognised rhino conservation habitat.

Home of the rhinos. 🦏

Meet Natal and her family, part of the thriving rhino population of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

What began here in 1983 with just 15 rhinos has grown into one of Kenya’s great conservation success stories. Today, the wider Lewa–Borana landscape is home to more than 280 black and white rhinos—a reminder of what can happen when wildlife is given space, protection and time to recover.

We love to see the rhinos thriving!

"I first joined Elewana at Sand River in the Mara over a decade ago, working as a security guard. It wasn’t long before I was offered training as a receptionist, and from there my journey grew: learning finance, administration, and eventually stepping into the role of lodge controller.

When I was approached for management, I felt the weight of the unknown, but with the right attitude and the support of an organisation that opens doors, I kept moving forward. Today, I am proud to serve as Camp Manager at Lewa Safari Camp, living proof that with opportunity and determination, growth is limitless.

What I love most about the bush is its serenity, though it comes with moments of pure adrenaline, like the time I found myself in the middle of a herd of buffalo that had wandered into camp. The trick, in the wild and in life, is to stay calm and keep your wits.

Everyday I work to bring that same steadiness to my team and our guests, putting people at ease and ensuring everything runs smoothly. My greatest strength is adaptability: being able to step into any role, understand what’s needed, and get it done.

Our Lewa Safari Camp, beautifully re-crafted.

Every detail here feels deeply connected to the Lewa landscape around. Soft sand and cream tones meet warm timber, woven rattan, and gentle ochre accents, drawing from the colours and textures of the plains.

Patterns and textures elegantly reflect East African traditions, bringing a sense of place and heritage into every space.

There is a feeling of depth and comfort everywhere you turn — a warm, welcoming retreat to return to after a day spent exploring the wild beauty of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

Wellness at Lewa Safari Camp is inspired by the healing rhythms of nature and the traditions of place.

Unwind beneath the sounds of the African bush with sensory aromatherapy journeys designed to restore mind, body, and soul. Drawing from African healing traditions and nourishing ingredients such as shea butter, each experience invites deep rest and renewal.

The Samburu Celebration Journey offers something even more rooted in place: cleansing foot rituals with salt crystals and botanical extracts, natural local herbs, and restorative touch therapies inspired by Samburu tradition.

A gentle reminder to slow down, breathe deeply, connect, and simply be.
