There's a particular kind of quiet that settles over the vehicle when you realize a leopard has clocked you before you've clocked it. That's exactly what happened here. Tucked into the long grass along the Mara Triangle, ears up, eyes locked, completely unbothered by our presence.

Leopards are notoriously solitary and secretive, more often heard than seen, so a sighting like this — calm, close, and lasting more than just a few seconds is a genuine gift. We watched as it shifted its gaze, turned its head, and eventually melted back into the grass as quietly as it had appeared.

Moments like these are what mornings at Elatia are made of. Quiet, patient, and utterly unforgettable. 🐆"

Some mornings at Elatia start with the best kind of show 🐘

This guy had his eye on something high up in the canopy — fruit, most likely — and he was not about to let a little thing like height stand in his way. So he did what elephants do best: gave the whole tree a good, determined shake, then leaned in for good measure, like he was negotiating with it.

Whether he got his snack or just made a very convincing effort, we love a reminder that even in the wild, persistence is everything. 🌳
