True to the saying "The early bird catches prey” our guide Dickson Loso left the camp at 5:45am, and "bump" we spotted one of the rarest sighting this morning; the earliest sighting of two indigenous black rhinos in the Mara Game Reserve. To our highly esteemed guests thank you for sharing this unforgettable moments with us. The Mara never ceases to amaze, we continue to witness its wonders.

An exceptionally rare sighting in the Maasai Mara!

The other day, our guests Svitlana and Nathan, together with our guide Dickson Loso, had an extraordinary encounter with a Side-striped Jackal — a species very rarely observed in the Mara.

Side-striped Jackals are larger and heavier than the more commonly encountered Black-backed Jackals, with a distinctive pale stripe running along their flanks. Although they occur across parts of East Africa, sightings in the Maasai Mara are exceptionally uncommon. This was also the first Side-striped Jackal Dickson had ever encountered during his years of guiding in the Mara.

A remarkable wildlife encounter, and an especially memorable one for Svitlana and Nathan as part of their honeymoon safari.
