In a quiet corner of our lush gardens at Frapa Leisure Gardens and Hotel, a radiant plant stands glowing under the morning sun, the beautiful Golden Mosaic.
Scientifically known as Pseuderanthemum reticulatum, Golden Mosaic is believed to have originated from the tropical regions of the Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia. It thrives in warm climates like ours, making it perfectly at home in Kenya’s rich soils.
But why the name Golden Mosaic?
Take a closer look at its leaves ,each one is painted with a network of bright golden,yellow veins spread across deep green surfaces. The pattern looks like a carefully arranged mosaic artwork, as though nature itself took a brush and traced golden lines across every leaf. When sunlight touches it, the plant seems to shimmer like gold ,truly living up to its name.

🌿✨ From 6 Inches to a Living Welcome ✨🌿

*Hedera helix*

At the Northern Bypass, I had gone to buy landscaping plants. After making my payments, I noticed a beautiful basket of Hedera helix but my pocket was empty.

I tried negotiating. The seller stood firm.
With humility, I made one last request: “Kindly, can I just get a small branch with the few shillings I have?”
Reluctantly… he handed me a tiny 6-inch piece free.

I placed it in a water bottle, said thank you, and went home. I planted it near my gate.
Today, that small cutting has grown into long, flowing strands of beauty, a living reminder that small beginnings, when nurtured with faith and patience, become great. 🌿
