THE NURU SUITES AT SAFFRON
A new expression of the Swahili Coast
Saffron is pleased to announce The Nuru Suites, an intimate collection of just four private pool suites and the next chapter in the evolution of Saffron.
Development will begin in July 2027, with the first two suites anticipated to welcome guests towards the end of the year. Two further suites will follow in 2028.
Created slowly and intentionally, Nuru draws inspiration from the architecture, landscape and quiet rhythm of Kenya's Swahili Coast.
Low-lying forms, flat roofs and deep shaded verandahs will sit gently within the landscape. Natural textures and a distinctly coastal palette will give the suites a character that feels both contemporary and rooted in place.
At Nuru, the architecture occupies only a small part of each private plot, leaving the greater part to gardens, water and outdoor living.
Each suite will open onto its own secluded swimming pool and expansive private garden, enclosed for complete privacy and softened by indigenous coastal vegetation.
The landscape is not intended simply as decoration. It is part of the experience.
Trees and tropical planting will create natural shade and privacy, while the gardens will be allowed to mature around the architecture, gradually giving each Nuru Suite the feeling of a private retreat hidden within the landscape.
At the heart of each suite is the verandah.
A continuation of the living space and a reflection of life on the coast — somewhere for slow mornings, breakfast overlooking the garden, afternoons in the shade and quiet evenings beside the pool.
Nuru means “light” in Swahili.
The name speaks to the character of the suites: sunlight filtering through vegetation, the contrast of light and shade beneath a deep verandah, warm coastal air and an architecture designed to connect naturally with its surroundings.
There will be no unnecessary excess.
Instead, Nuru is about simplicity, privacy and a generosity of space where it matters most.
A private garden.
A private pool.
A shaded verandah.
And somewhere entirely your own.
The Nuru Suites will be developed gradually, with only two created each year. This considered approach allows Saffron to evolve while preserving the intimacy, tranquillity and sense of privacy that have always defined it.
By 2028, just four Nuru Suites will complete the collection.
