Sometimes people read these kinds of lists as:

“Not developed yet.”
“Investment opportunity.”
“Hidden potential.”

But we believe it may be something else.

The Project "200 more! Follow us🌿"

We want to share a little piece of the atmosphere of Sambor Village.

Just a small moment from an ordinary day here, live from our garden 5 mins sometime in a day.

The sound of birds coming down from the trees,
the wind moving through the leaves,
the feeling right before the rain arrives.

The quiet, everyday rhythm of Sambor Village.

We believe these small moments might help someone, somewhere,
slow down,
soften,
and take a breath.

But apparently, in Cambodia, Instagram Live is only available for accounts with more than 1,000 followers…

Solar panels have finally begun to find their place here.

Twenty large panels were gently lifted onto our tiled roofs, and in just one day, the landscape has shifted like this.

Now… we listen and watch.
Let’s see how this unfolds.

Because our buildings are wooden, with traditional roofs rather than concrete, the work was a little more demanding than usual for the team.

If this goes well, it may become a small example of how tradition and new technology can quietly meet.

As the installation began, some of our staff started to say, “This feels right.” So for now, we try it here first—and learn as we go.

We’re grateful to take this small step forward in practice.

☀️Solar system Installation at Sambor Village🌳

Hello to all our dear community at Sambor Village.

As the global energy landscape undergoes a profound shift, we have decided to transition to a hybrid power system—combining solar energy with the public grid.

To be honest, making this investment while the tourism industry itself faces such uncertainty was a frightening decision. Looking at the empty spaces in our booking calendar, I asked myself time and again: "Is this truly the best path forward right now?"

However, it is precisely because of these times that I felt we must challenge ourselves to reduce our environmental footprint and increase our self-sufficiency. This spirit of resilience mirrors the very story of how Sambor Village rose again after COVID.

📢The installation start on 29th April 2026. It will take place for a week.

The panels will be fitted onto the restaurant roof. While there might be some minor disruptions during this time, we would deeply appreciate your kind understanding and support as we grow.

From right here in Kompong Thom, Sambor Village will continue to offer a sense of living in harmony with nature—our humble contribution to today’s world.

Dear Our Forest Friends and guests from Sambor Village,

April has arrived.
Here in Cambodia, the heat is beginning to settle in—and Khmer New Year is coming.

The challenges currently facing the world are now reaching our small town of Kompong Thom as well.

Prices for gas (hot water/cooking), gasoline and diesel, have risen significantly and there are purchase limits and occasional shortages. Transportation costs—including buses and taxis are also increasing.

At Sambor Village, we will continue to operate with our current rates for accommodation and meals and we will remain open as usual throughout the Khmer New Year.

At the same time, we have decided to gradually reduce our reliance on gas and petroleum.
We are now working with specialists, looking toward a partially off-grid approach.

Alongside this broader transformation,
we are also starting with small daily actions—such as turning off electricity when pool is unoccupied.

We will continue to face the current situation in our own way—learning from the forest and our ecosystem, step by step.

Thank you, as always, for being part of this journey with us—and we hope you’ll enjoy seeing how it unfolds.

Dear wonderful guests, thank you so much🌳

We are honored to receive a 9.1 score in the Booking.com Traveller Review Awards 2026. For the first time in the history of Sambor Village, we have reached above 9.0 — a milestone our team has been working toward for the past few years.

We may be a small, locally rooted, nature-conscious hotel, without large facilities or grand entertainment. But we believe in sharing something different — the spirit of the people and the quiet strength of this land, offering our guests a chance to feel the true soul of Cambodia.

In a world facing growing conflicts and climate challenges, we feel even more strongly that tourism should care for nature, think carefully about how we use energy, and create moments of understanding between people.

We will continue refining Sambor Village as “a hotel between nature and people.”

**To Our Lovely Guests — Riverbank Construction Notice**

Greetings from Sambor Village in Kampong Thom, in the heart of Cambodia. We are now in the middle of the dry season, and the days have been pleasantly fresh and clear.

Over the next few weeks, restoration work will take place on the riverbank in front of our hotel. This project aims to repair sections damaged in recent years by rising water levels and will be completed before the coming rainy season. The new riverbank is being designed with great care for the surrounding landscape, preserving the large riverside trees.

Once completed, a beautiful pedestrian promenade is planned, creating a welcoming space where more people can enjoy the gentle soul and natural character of Kampong Thom.

Sambor Village is usually known for its quiet atmosphere and the 360-degree orchestra of birds and wildlife. During the construction period, however, there may be occasional construction sounds from machinery used for piling and earthworks. Work will take place intermittently between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.

While the atmosphere of Sambor Village may feel a little different at times, our commitment to providing comfort, care, and peace of mind to our guests remains stronger than ever.

A future where Kampong Thom can offer a lifestyle in harmony with its environment is very close. We are grateful for your understanding and for sharing this transition with us.
