The Cambodia Hotel Association (CHA) participated in the Progress Review Meeting of the Tourism Working Group (Working Group “B”) under the Government-Private Sector Forum, chaired by H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, on 4 August 2026.

Representing CHA, Mr. Bruno Van, National Vice President, attended the meeting alongside public and private sector leaders to discuss urgent measures aimed at restoring confidence, reviving international tourist arrivals, and strengthening the resilience of Cambodia’s tourism sector.

Key discussions focused on:
• Restoring Cambodia’s international tourism image and traveler confidence
• Enhancing tourism marketing and destination promotion
• Improving air connectivity and accessibility
• Supporting investment and business in the tourism sector
• Expanding major events and encouraging domestic tourism

The meeting also acknowledged the successful implementation of 22 tourism initiatives, including the development of Phnom Kulen as a nature-based tourism destination and the launch of the Green Belt initiative to promote sustainable tourism.

CHA remains committed to working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and industry partners to support the sustainable growth and competitiveness of Cambodia’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Oknha Hy Sothea, National President of the Cambodia Hotel Association (CHA), was honored to attend the Closing Ceremony of the Workshop on “Promoting Tourism Destination Connectivity from the Siem Reap–Angkor Heritage Tourism Area to Various Tourism Destinations across the Kingdom of Cambodia,” held on 31 July 2026 in Siem Reap Province.

The ceremony was presided over by H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, together with H.E. PRAK Sophoan, Governor of Siem Reap Province, bringing together around 500 participants from the public and private tourism sectors.

The workshop focused on strengthening tourism connectivity through the development of Cluster Destination tour packages, joint destination promotion, and new tourism products to encourage longer visitor stays and increase tourism spending.

The event also marked the launch of the 2026 Siem Reap Tourism Service Mega Sale, offering 10–50% discounts on selected tourism services in support of the Visit Cambodia Green Season 2026 campaign. H.E. the Minister also called for stronger collaboration among government, tourism associations, and the private sector to enhance Cambodia’s tourism competitiveness and sustainable growth.

Oknha Hy Sothea, National President of the Cambodia Hotel Association (CHA), and Oknha Lay Kimsour, President of the CHA Siem Reap Chapter, were honored to attend the First National Forum on Promoting Tourism Handicrafts and Khmer Souvenirs, held on 30 July 2026 at Sokha Siem Reap Resort & Convention Center.

The forum, presided over by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, together with H.E. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, and H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, brought together around 500 participants from government, the private sector, tourism associations, and Cambodian artisans.

The event featured a Business Matching programme connecting local artisans and community producers with hotels, tourism operators, and souvenir retailers to strengthen market access and promote authentic “Made in Cambodia” products.

H.E. Huot Hak emphasized that Khmer souvenirs are not merely products for sale but powerful tools of tourism diplomacy, showcasing Cambodia’s cultural heritage, national identity, and creativity to the world. He also highlighted the importance of product storytelling, quality standards, preserving Khmer identity, and protecting intellectual property through trademark and Geographical Indication (GI) registration to enhance the value and competitiveness of Cambodian handicrafts.

The forum marked a significant milestone in supporting local artisans, preserving cultural heritage, creating economic opportunities, and promoting Cambodia’s image internationally through tourism.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Cambodia Chapter, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the Cambodia Tourism Board, the Cambodia Tourism Federation, and the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, is set to organise the Cambodia Travel Match (CTM) 2026 – India Special Edition under the theme, ‘Building Partnerships, Creating Opportunities, Connecting Cambodia to the World’.
