Meet the participants on our workshop: Part 2 💛

In 2023 we hosted a workshop with on our land down south of Cambodia - to dive into the world of Aircrete.

We came together from all corners of the world, all of us with a different story. The energy on site was incredible!

Swipe left to meet our next two builders from our crew: Nandita and Eric!

Nandita traveled all the way from India, driven by a dream to learn new things and prepare for the day she buys her own land! Eric is an electrician from Munich who came to see firsthand how simple materials can be used to construct incredible dome structures.

Different backgrounds, but the same drive to step off that hamster wheel and create something unique.

Stay tuned to meet the rest of the team in our upcoming posts 💛

We came together from all corners of the world, all of us with a different story. The energy on site was incredible!

Swipe left to meet the first two builders from our crew: Chan and Dana! Chan is taking these skills back to his farm in Malaysia to build a dome, and Dana is heading back to Zimbabwe to pioneer the first-ever ice bath and sauna center in Harare.

Different backgrounds, but the same drive to step off that hamster wheel and create something unique.

It looks like concrete... but it lifts like a pillow? 🤯

Swipe to see the exact moment our staff from our hotels realized they didn’t need superhuman strength to lift these building blocks!

This is Aircrete - regular cement infused with millions of tiny, microscopic air bubbles. By replacing heavy gravel and sand with air, you get a material that is:

* Ultra-lightweight (even our 4 year old daughter and my 74 year old father could lift them!)

* Insulating (keeps the tropical heat out and the cool in. And it’s also super soundproof).

* Workable (you can cut it with a standard hand saw).

Drop a 🧱 if you’ve ever heard of Aircrete.

Building a home shouldn’t feel like an impossible dream 💛

In 2023, we hosted a workshop here in Cambodia to dive into the world of Aircrete. It’s more than just lightweight, foam-infused concrete—it’s a way to build sustainably, affordably, and with your own two hands.

From pouring the foam to watching the community come together to stack the bricks, every step reminded us that there is nothing more empowering than creating your own space. Even our daughters were able to help get the job done!

Swipe through to see the process from liquid foam to a finished tiny home 🛖

A lot of people ask if they can book a stay in our bungalows.

This lovely couple, and stayed as our first guests, even before we were completely finished with the bungalows.

The plan is to make five Edens, around a natural looking pool and rent them out on AirBnb.

But for now we are still in a learning process of building with Aircrete, and we don’t want guests until we have the complete finished product!

This is the first Aircrete building in Cambodia. With its handmade proper Khmer tiles and eco-paint from , this building (Eden) is quite unique.

The Khmer tiles are handmade one by one by the only company left in Cambodia who produces them the old traditional way. This art was about to die out because of Cambodia’s history of war, but also because of mass production of printed tiles made with machines in China.

We have these tiles all over our two hotels up in Siem Reap too - and 💛

The eco-paint on the walls is made from natural lime stone and powdered marble. A medium texture can be achieved with a brush, like we did in this Eden. This wall paint has been used for centuries 💛

A lot more details will be added eventually, and more Edens will be added, so stay tuned for video-updates 💛

We’ve also been asked a lot about our handmade ceramic tiles. can’t wait to show you more how they are made, one by one, locally where we live in the north of Cambodia.

Stay tuned 💛
